The Alliance - My application to join and why I'm a good fit!
Hello hello! My name is Tamar, pictured here at the amazing hippie gathering known as the Oregon Country Fair - wearing my grandmothers old square-dancing dress along with a belt, pouch and skirt hikes I made. I've been on Steemit for a couple of months now, pretty regularly for the last 2 months and I'm looking to join The Alliance. Here is a bit of background about me first, before I get into the nitty-gritty about joining your amazing group!
I'm a mom in my 40's with 3 girls that keep me super busy. I worked in public health research for 14 years and then got laid off due to lack of grant funding. This lead to me taking up leatherworking and starting an Etsy shop. I've had a bit of success with it, mainly making leather diffuser bracelets for people who use essential oils and recently have started making bags and pouches too. My oldest daughter starts high school next year and is in the local International High School down the road and will be learning Japanese - and she is a kick-ass artist. My middle daughter is learning Japanese in a language immersion school and the youngest will be joining her next year when she starts Kindergarten. I will soon find myself with empty days and I am starting to spread my wings on Steemit in anticipation of that free time. I could go on and on about all the things I'm interested in, but instead - let's get to why you're here. To read about my application!!
I found @thealliance because I was asked to chart my course by @artemisnorth, aka: @fiberartists. I have been looking around for more groups to join that can help me grow as a Steemian and get closer to my goals that I charted, which I will be posting soon. I started looking around at some of the posts made by alliance members and was impressed by the writing and time put into them. I started out on Steemit with some colorchallenge photography posts and a leather journal I had just finished. The more I look around and get a better idea of what makes 'quality' content, it inspires me to raise my game... along with my formatting game! Some of the layouts that people code are stunning and shows that it really pays to put the time and effort into what you are presenting to the world. #steemitgoals
I would love to join a group of people who want to make quality content, while helping each other at the same time. I'm still learning and trying to figure out how to improve what I do on Steem and grow along with you all. Together. Team. Helpers. Learners. Those are some of the words that come to mind when I think of joining.
I have quite a lot of knowledge that I've acquired from life. Here are a few skills I have and want to share with the world, while learning more about them at the same time. My motto: Never stop learning!
- leatherworking
- crochet
- knitting
- sewing
- embroidery
- crafts for kids
- essential oils
- cooking
- graphic design (I have a degree for it too)
- brewing (kombucha at the moment!)
- probably some other stuff I can't think of at the moment
I can bring a genuine desire to help others, while being respectful, honest, and hardworking. I also really love inspiring others to try new things and, I am hoping, by showing the process I go through with some of my projects - it will get other people to try new things outside of their comfort zone. Most people can't be awesome at something on the first try, it takes consistent practice and help from peers and mentors. I'm ready to be a: student, peer, and mentor in #thealliance.
Your daughters sound amazing! I don't know much about the alliance...however after reading your post...I am certain that your application will be approved! I decided to feature this post instead...because there is more time to accumulate upvotes! Hopefully the added exposure with help with that! <3
MSP Community Curation: Top Five 'Positive PAL Posts' - Week #16
https://steemit.com/community/@creativesoul/msp-community-curation-top-five-positive-pal-posts-week-16
They are amazing - and I love bragging about them. Isn’t that what moms are suppose to do? I’m hoping to convince my oldest to start her own Steemit account and post some of her artwork because it really is amazing.
I’ve been moved along in the alliance application process to “the classroom” so I can learn more about improving my posts (hopefully it’s ok to post that!)
Thank you for including my post - I really appreciate you. 😊 I’m really quite an introvert, so this whole putting myself out into the world is a bit daunting, but I’m trying to ignore my usual reticence and just do it anyway.
I was just about to suggest your oldest daughter join Steemit to post her artwork...there are just so many booming communities and initiatives for artists here! Tons of fun contests too. The putting yourself out there does get easier...most of the time I am quite the introvert too. But you can't really grow and learn very much without venturing out of comfort zones once in awhile. I am truly looking forward to witnessing your journey here! <3
I've really enjoyed reading your application and getting to know you a little better. Good Luck!
Thank you! I am still charting my course and will hopefully have it up soon - thanks for the inspiration. :D
