Always an interesting question!

Much as people don't like to hear it, often "the one" we must first meet is ourselves. In my counseling practice, I find that the vast majority who set out on an epic journey to find their "one" are searching for a lost piece of their own soul and spirit. Maybe it's too painful to look at the empty spaces within, so we look "without," instead.

The danger inherent in the "one" myth is that there is a quest that somehow ends when we come together with that person... whereas most likely, the greatest work we will ever do is about to begin.
