Postcards from Thailand - Stuff you can sell from a handcart

in #thailand6 years ago (edited)

I see many odd sights for my western eyes that actually make complete sense, including the plethora of people selling on the streets from motorcycle sidecars, pop-up stalls or these hard working, hard walking push-cart vendors.

This guy was pushing a fully customised for the job hand-cart selling rugs and mats. That has got to be hard graft in our tropical sun!

If it were me, I'd just stand somewhere busy for an hour or so such as outside a 7/11 but these folks just seem to keep on walking.
Hope he sold a few but I'd suggest the profits are not so great but every respect to him and his ilk, making his own luck and working hard. Everyone has to do what they can.

Looks like he's got that nicely balanced for ease of movement. Got to be appreciative of the work ethic and the skill behind the custom built shop on wheels :D

I totally agree mate and the problem with the west is we quash this spirit with rukes and regulations. If you wanted to do this at home, you'd need public liabnility insurance and a street traders license just for starters. There is no woner we have developed such a reliance on state aid!

Thats really interesting. We have some people in my country who sell plastic items and people buy from them. It is easier if you buy something in your road than going far to any market to buy it and carry it back home :)
