Terrorism and racism
Both these words are displeasing terms in any form of conversation, and as of late I have noticed far too many people talking with anger about muslims.
The Spanish mainstream media has been busy talking about the terror attacks day and night and seem to get more and more annoying with each new attack. Im not condoning terrorism by any means, this has to stop but were not going to acomplish it by going to war again.
Its a worrying trend and not something Im very happy about.
Just today I was having a coffee when a large angry man beside me started to shout about this very subject.
Just take them all and dump them into a pit and problem solved he stated with a red angry face and far too many hand gestures.
My reply was quick and decisive :
Maybe we should stop supporting greedy governments that are run and operated by corporations that manufacture and sell weapons that kill. And stop giving people from other backrounds reasons to hate us for it.
He didnt like what I said and mumbled something under his breath and looked even angrier.
I used to be somewhat racist this stopped in my early twenties after realizing that I actually got along better with people that were considered minorities than regular nationalized citizens. I am as race tolerant as they make them I like to think and can only hope that other people will start to realize that this is a very wrong way of thinking.
My form of thinking has completely changed especially as far as statism is concerned. Im a mix of a number of diferent backrounds including at least Italian, Spanish, French and German and when people ask me where Im from they get this answer:
Im just a human being like you born on this round flying rock in space.
Back to Terrorism....
We live in Terror everyday mainstream media manipulates us into being fearfull, hatefull and ignorant to the real problems that surround us.
Banks are in charge of printing unlimited money thanks to the great relationship they have with banks. By the way today the 8th biggest bank in Spain got sold for 1€ to banco santander.
They will be diluting the company stocks to the modest tune of 7 billion euros.
Religion may have been the source of much of the terror that our ancestors suffered over the last centuries or millenia but I really think its not such a threat as they want us to believe.

Obviously what that man said is wrong and he is offering absolutely no practical solutions to the problem of terrorism whatsoever, but calling him a racist is wrong too. Muslims are not a race of people, they can be white, black, asian... whatever. Islam is an ideology and set of beliefs that should be open to criticism just like any other.
I completely agree, great comment btw. Im quite sure he is just a brainwashed statist like many others. But hearing this kind of confused anger from som many people lately is a worrying trend to say the least.
Yes definitely, these kind of reactions will only make the problem worse. What is the weather like in Mallorca now by the way? I'm going to be there on holiday soon!

Ok I'll probably have to ride early in the morning or later in the evening then since I'm used to UK temperatures. I will be there this Saturday for one week. Are you native to Mallorca or did you move there from another part of the world?
Was born here in Mallorca, but I lived for quite a few years in Canada. Yeah early morning is the best time. Puerto Pollensa is a really nice resort Im sure you will enjoy your stay there. Its really hot this year so far so its a good thing your coming now july or august are going to really suck I think.
Islam, like cristianism, is not a monolithic ideology. There are a lot of branches with different interpretations and not all of them are extremists. In general terms, for Islam a bad muslim is worse that a non muslim.
I am completely agree about it should be open to criticism.
Terrorism and racism, just like twins.
