We should all know the story about erstwhile President John F. Kennedy on the United States who on January 20, 1961, delivered his inaugural address in which he challenged the society to contribute to improve the public good. In his words: “and so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” - Source, I see a call to all patriotic citizens to rise and put their hands on deck to build their own community.

Today, you would be my witness that growth of amazing communities and states, even the blockchain are as a result of the synergy put in by her members. Beyond that, open source projects today has proved that community effort can stretch their resources to be a blessing to the masses thereby bringing them to adoption.

The essence of this blog is to again call us to consciousness on what our collaborative efforts can yield. I hat-off to members of great communities in the steem blockchain who have in, many ways shown their solidarity - @Steemchurch @Sc-v @Steemitbloggers @Wafrica @Steemjet @Steem-engine @Oracle-d @Steemiteducation @Ulogs @Dcooperation @Esteemapp @Minnowsupport @Dtube @Help.venezuela, etc, as well as the entire steem blockhain in their undaunted efforts to grow their own. Very notable of the steem blockchain are instances where membership votes are required such as during the Netcoins listing call.

Certainly, there are many things we can do for our community which would on the long run become a a blessing to us. Some (not limited to these) of the ways with which we can help grow our communities are outlined and discussed below.

• Be a True fan
• Get involved as a volunteer
• Become a Mentor
• Organize a Charitable Event

1. Being a True Fan

The Wikipedia encyclopeadia sees a fan, as a supporter who is enthusiastically devoted to something or somebody. In the context of this write, a fan is such a person who believes in the dream of his/her community and goes all out to support it in every good way possible. Such can be the flagging of promotional materials of your community, writing about your community and representing a good a image of that community.

For @Steemchurch members, our expansion to Telos requires the effort of every parishioner who is expected to in words and deeds be a true fan. Some of the ways is to identify with the Telos community in all media handles available. I have shared a link of a few below.

2. Get involved as a volunteer

Volunteering is an act of spending some of your free time helping others.^Source As a community member, you do not have to wait for an official call before you undertake responsibility to the good of your community. It is in your place to seek for possible collaborations that will help your community grow and as well brainstorm on the values that will enhance unity amongst your membership ranks.

There are plenty of opportunities out there if you look out for them. If you’re considering ways to get involved in the community as a volunteer, but have little time to spare, look out for flexible roles that can fit around the needs of the members of your community.

When you determine to volunteer, you stand to gain confidence, meet people, exercise your leadership prowess, create a difference, learn new skills, take up a challenge to gain the experience and have fun in the process.

3. Become a Mentor

A mentor is experienced and trusted adviser. This wealth of experience is gathered through consistent practice. When you are consistent about what you do, you ear up developing great skills that make you stand out in that vocation. Mentoring is a display of leadership abilities and truly, everyone has that seed in him/her. In this post, @Darlenys01 elucidated the ways in which we can express our mentoring abilities by setting small groups and managing them as we expand to Telos. Read the post and glean some salient lessons.

4. Organize a Charitable Event

You can bare with us that one of the ways that #stem has gained prominence is through charitable acts of dedicated steemians and communities. Of honourable mentions are @Steemchurch @Sc-v @Sc-n @Sc-g @Farms @Newhope @Charitycurator @Fundition @Adollaraday @Girlsfoundation, etc. Charitable events are ways to showcase our community to the world out there.
