What is quality content anyway?

in #tell6 years ago (edited)

So we see a lot of posts talking about quality content and how we should only be posting stuff that is of high quality and attractive to our readers.

I get it, I really do. We don't want people posting shit and then earning huge amounts of money for it. I saw a guy post a one sentence post the other day who then earned $200 for his post. That's not acceptable. I agree that there must be some limit on what a post can earn based on the effort that was put in to creating that post.

Low effort posts shouldn't earn huge amounts of reward. But who determines what a post should earn? Is it me? Is it you? Who is it?

I suppose it's all of us, we collectively decide who gets what amount of reward. We, with our combined votes or combined flags can determine what a post should earn. If someone makes a post that doesn't deserve its $1000 price tag, then collectively we should be coming together and flagging the shit out of that post. We should bring that post to its knees and we should then write off the authors reputation so that they never come back and produce that shit content ever again.

Sometimes I think we're too worried that flagging someone will scare them away and they'll never return.

Well fuck it, if that person is posting shit content then they don't belong here. Tell them to fuck off, flag their content. Make them feel unwanted. If they are going to post spam content, plagiarised content, shit that doesn't deserve any form of reward then tell that fucker to fuck right off.

We have the opportunity to decide who belongs here and who doesn't. Look at Jerry Banfield for example, that fuckwit doesn't belong here and collectively we made sure that all of the major bid bots blacklisted that fucker from buying votes on his scammy shit posts. Now his posts earn sweet fuck all, and its because the community decided that that fucker isn't wanted here. Sure, he still posts. But it's only his self votes that make him any money.

We should still be flagging the fuck out of that wankers posts. But I'm happy to see that the fuckwit is off the trending page. That alone makes me happy.

Anyway, this ramble is simply to say that you shouldn't be scared to tell people to fuck off if you don't think they belong here. You have every right to do so. If you own Steem then you own part of this platform. You can decide what happens here. And don't be scared to express your opinion.

Now fuck off and go flag some shit.

Gamernoob out!
