"I could care less if zombies who can’t think independently of mindless gibberish on FB are literally forced to pull the lever down for a given candidate through special mind control techniques." This is what's been bothering me most about this whole Russian fiasco.

Assuming that the Russians hacked the DNC and spilled the beans, created FB bots, etc...and that influenced the U.S. election,

1. We've been interfering in elections for decades, so there's a double standard here. That alone should render our judgement null.
2. The Politicians are literally screaming to the public that they are easily influenced (or manipulated...or controlled) by what they see on these social media platforms.

If the public was indeed influenced by what they saw on Facebook (which to me seems likely), then their own critical thinking skills have been diminished. And in these hours and hours of dialogue we're hearing about the Russians, we're actually being informed that we're thought of as stupid, mindless creatures who can be easily swayed by ads (who knew?). Edward Bernays would be proud. It's so obvious it hurts.
