Claymore's Zcash AMD Miner

Hi everyone! This is a small guide on how to get the best performance out of your 280x with Claymore Zcash AMD Miner.

  1. First you need to download Claymore's Zcash AMD Miner, which you can do here.

    • If you are using R9 280X I suggest downloading v9.1 for best performance, v9.2 is a few percent slower.
    • If you're using RX 4xx you should download the v9.2
  2. Extract the folder where ever you want on your computer.

  3. Find a pool where you want to mine, for example if you're mining Zdash you could use suprnova.cc or coinmine.pl.

    • Create an account at the pool.
    • Go to My Account>My Workers, set your workername and worker password (for example workername: Asus 280x, worker password: x)
    • Go to Help>Getting started, copy the ip address for the pool.
  4. Go back to the folder where you extraced your miner. Create a new txt-document. Write for example:

    • setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
      setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
      ZecMiner64.exe -zpool stratum+tcp://zdash.suprnova.cc:4048 -zwal Sparkzor.280x -zpsw x -i 6 -cclock 1150 -mclock 1700 -tstop 85

    • Change -zpool to the IP of your pool

    • Change -zwal to your username.workername

    • Change -zpsw to your worker password.

    • Adjust -cclock, -mclock and -tstop to clocks and temperature that you are comfortable with. These clocks gives me 230-235 H/s on stock voltage with an Asus 280x Directu ii.

  5. The example above will allocate all load from the GPU for mining, if you want to use your computer at the same time I suggest this example:

    • setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
      setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
      ZecMiner64.exe -zpool stratum+tcp://zdash.suprnova.cc:4048 -zwal Sparkzor.280x-zpsw x -i 7

  6. Always use programs like HWinfo to monitor temperatures, do not let your 280x run too high. My 280x runs at 70c after 5 hours with the first example and I think that's really cool. As long as your 280x is under 90c you should be fine.

You are good to go! Here's a GPU hardware comparison I made a few days ago STEEMIT POST

Note: Remember that adjusting voltages of your GPU might fry the hardware. Never adjust voltages if you're inexperienced, read up on overclocking before experimenting. I might make an overclocking guide for 280x later.

like your effort for Zcash and optimization of R9 280X Gpu, good job @sparkit

Thank you!
I have another 280x to pick up in 20 minutes, I'll probably post my new settings for that one and my hashrate. That one will be a Sapphire Toxic, if I recall correctly those where the strongest back in the Scrypt-days at least!

Upvoted for nice guide and Zcash!

Lol I don't know what that is, but I do know "Z-Cash" ZEC is on the rise!! Crypto trader 4 life!!!!!

Nice article. Good to see I'm not the only one who thinks like this. The crypto market: High risk high gains!. That doesn't mean that a gain is guaranteed though. There's simply no guarantee in anything in life and especially not in a high risk market. Does anyone know about: https://www.coincheckup.com They seem to give this complete indepth analysis of all cryptocoins. Go to: https://www.coincheckup.com/coins/Zcash#analysis To check Zcash Indepth analysis
