One of the most beautiful things about technological progress is that we are increasingly getting devices that are a lot smaller than before while at the same time being more powerful which help us do more and make our lives easier.

I have said it before and I am saying it again. Technology will always continue to refine something to its absolute perfect form until no more can be done with it. We have been seeing it with just about everything related to technological innovations especially consumer electronics.

Well, it seems like that has been done again. With air conditioners this time. Yes, you heard that right. When you say "air conditioners" you immediately visualise this big machine blowing cold air into a room with an equally big machine placed outside your room/apartment.

That is why an air conditioner that can fit inside a pocket sounds something straight out of a science fiction movie, but it actually exists and its maker is none other than Sony.

Carry Your AC

With rising temperatures throughout the world, heat especially in summers is becoming an excruciating problem to deal with. People have to spend a great deal on ACs and electricity bills to stay cool. Also, that works only until you are in a room and not when you are on the go.

So, what if you could be cooled while you're mobile? That's exactly what Sony is offering with its Reon Pocket air conditioner. The device is small enough to fit inside a pocket, although users would need to wear a special undershirt which has a pocket in it at the back, just below the neck.

The pocket AC can decrease a person's body surface temperature by as much as 13 degrees Celsius (23 degrees Fahrenheit) which would be a godsent in the extreme summers. But it can also be used to increase the body surface temperature by as much as 8 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit) so it acts as sort of a tiny heater as well. It is rechargeable and can last up to 24 hours on a single charge.

As with any other smart device, the Reon Pocket can be controlled with an app on your smartphone and costs about $117 to $175. Right now, Sony is only selling this device in Japan but if it proves to be successful, they might come up with a global launch.

Thanks!

How to stop feeling hot during global climate change. Carry another device requiring electricity. :D

In fact, AC will only contribute to global warming So the Earth too needs a pocket AC and an undershirt to cover itself! LOL!

But this won't require a lot of electricity. And it lasts a whole day on a single charge. If this use could reduce the use of bigger ACs, then it could ne useful.
