Do you change your home every year? Do you feel embarrassed while driving an old model car? Do you change your refrigerator or microwave oven every year? The answer to all these questions is most probably a no. Then why do you feel compelled to change your phone every year? The reason behind this is the consumer psyche that the technological giants have deliberately created. Latest phone is more than a need now as it is more about social status, technological features, and the look than the phone’s utility. Speed and improved camera are the focus of marketing campaigns led by technology industry. While you read this, sit back and think whether you really need a more expensive phone every year or it is only a hoax? Here are some reasons to not change your phone each year;

  1. As lucrative it may seem to buy a luxurious and expensive brand new phone, just give yourself some time to rethink your decision. You may realize that you have been wasting thousands of dollars on getting phones that lose their value in just over a year. Instead, put your money in savings and you will always have something when you are in financial drought. If a $1000 is saved each year by not buying a new phone, consider your savings in next 5 years. You can buy a new phone out of your savings after 5 years and still have plenty of money to plan a tour abroad. Sounds interesting?

  2. Do not replace broken screen with a new phone. Just get the screen repaired and save yourself hundreds of dollars. In short, spare yourself from the excuses that make you buy new phone every year.

  3. 1-2 years of using the same phone is not a taboo. Go on and be the trendsetter. Have faith in yourself than relying on phones to make your social value.

  4. Asking for more and more is a never ending loop. Get freed from this loop by understanding that speed, great camera, and memory are present in your current phone as well. After all, this is why you bought it in first place. Pay little heed to the word of mouth marketing of a new version and continue to enjoy your current phone without feeling embarrassed. The key to self-liberation lies in freeing yourself from materialistic shackles.

  5. Ready to buy new phone for dropping current one a million times? Hold on there as you are going to drop your lustrous new Iphone X for as many times as this one.

  6. You simply do not need to change phone for wanting a bigger or smaller screen. It’s all in your mind. When consumers have small screens, they naturally yearn for bigger screens. Users with big screens dream of small and handy phone sets. Recognize this fidgeting and silent your brain on this.

  7. Manage your phone’s memory by deleting unnecessary pictures and videos.
