"DEUREX PURE" is a superweapon against Chemicals and Oil Spillages(Pollutions), a discovery made by chance and was proclaimed as the "Magic Cotton", a special spongelike synthetic Wax that was fabricated by Gunter Hufschmid's team, a German-based company called Durex.
Magic cotton won the European Inventor Award for 2017, it was initiated by the European Patent Office. This sponge is a tool to help restore our environment back to a more bio-hazard free and friendly habitat.
The long-term effects of advancement in civilization and technology are for a fact creating a larger dent in our lives, fossil fuels surprisingly have many disadvantages over the Biological lifeforms(Humans, Marine Organisms, Animals and the Atmosphere).
Oil spillage had exterminated close to 60% of marine Habitats, explosion due to oil spillage from Oil pipeline leakages had killed over half of a Village in an Oil producing community in Delta State Nigeria West Africa.
HOW THE MAGIC COTTON WORKS
It works by sucking oil spillages off waterways and oil rigs on the Sea, the synthetic wax could absorb over 6 times its weight and quantity in any Hydrophobic liquid and it will not take on water during this process of cleansing. The Magic Cotton is ideal for Chemical spills as well as Alcohols on Offshore drilling sites, plants etc.
- 1 Kg of the Magic Cotton absorbs 6.55 L of Oil Spillage super fast.
APPLICATIONS
It can be removed with no residuals and it keeps the contaminants without spreading while it remains buoyant. It's recyclable and reuse abilities make it an award-winning invention, here are some more of the ways it's applicable;

What a wonderful technological initiative tailored toward alleviating the damage usually caused by spillage.....this has been a cause for alarm in Niger delta, it also caused their agitations because oil spillage has made their lands unproductive, pollute their water and a lot of other harms.....

Many thanks my friend, I served in Delta State so i know what damage Oil spillage has caused those regions.
This magic cotton has been a long time coming, especially in the Niger Delta. Humans will always keep surprising us with how far they can stretch the human mind and technology.
Although, I think it being biodegradable would have been better. That way when we don't need them anymore, we could just bury them and wait for nature to take its course, instead of burning it and polluting the air.
I wonder what would happen if fish swallowed it or got entangled in it. I hope it's animal friendly.
