I overclocked my R7 1700 to 3.8 GHz by only changing the multiplier. Voltage is at 1.208V stock / auto. Temps with a Thermalright Macho X2 don't exceed 61°c when stress testing with prime95.

With the stock cooler, 3.6 GHz is probably the sweet spot, but your voltage seems pretty high, so do your temperatures. I personally wouldn't want to go beyond 70°c for a daily use overclock.

But: ASUS motherboards are not the best for Ryzen in my opinion. I had a PRIME X370-PRO and even after 20 BIOS upgrades, I still couldn't run my RAM at DOCP with 3200 CL14. Voltages were higher and there is no option to re-enable Cool'n'quiet when the CPU is overclocked.

Now I have an MSI X370 Gaming Plus which I am much happier with. RAM is stable at DOCP, voltages are lower and I can enable Cool'n'quiet, so depending on the power plan, the CPU jumps between 1.5 and 3.8 GHz and the voltage between 0.4 and 1.2V.

Se queda entre 80 a 85 C. Lo dejé toda la noche corriendo a temperatura tropical. No encendí el aire acondicionado en mi cuarto pues la temperatura estaba perfecta para dormir. Obviamente, si prendo el aire, la temperatura bajaría como a 75 mas o menos. Recuerda que estoy usando el cooler de fabrica y mi case es bien básico. Solo tiene un abanico 120mm al frente, uno 80mm atrás y le puse uno que tenia en el panel del lado como intake, pero ese abanico no es muy bueno y mande a pedir otro 80mm marca Arctic que es el que estoy usando atrás. Después consideraré ponerle un water cooler.

Al momento de este comentario, la temperatura está en 82.5C

Try 3.6Ghz with just 1.2 V
mine was running (although not all cores since I made a gaming profile for that) at 1.18125V after I read others doing fine with that on 8 cores.

1.36V is definitely too high.

Also try using the middle fan speed of 60% stock fan+settings. It keeps mine at 60°C without GPU running.
My 1700 also does the 3.2 @ 1.06875V (mainboard automated power saver settings)

I tried putting an offset of -0.1000V so the voltage was in the 1.2x range, but the machine wouldn't boot. Also, the fans are all running at 100%. From what I've read, the CPU can go up to 1.4V without issues.

I didn't use any offset (it may well be yours are too low for the minimum speed to start), just the Ryzen Master setting.

I'm using old Q8400, always wanted to clock it but too scared not to destroy it in the process :)

It depends on several factors, like what motherboard you're using an what is the recommended voltage for your processor when overclocking. My motherboard sets every value automatically. I just have to set the CPU multiplier and it does the rest. For Ryzen CPUs, lots of people are overclocking in the 1.20 to 1.40 V range. I suggest you to look around the internet to see who has overclocked your CPU and what settings they have used. Not all motherboards and chips are made the same, so settings and stability can vary.

That is the main problem, I have old motherboard, old processor and old power supply. I think it is better for me to not play with fire. Ryzen is brand new, so there is probably tons of support around if you want to clock it well. I might go for Ryzen in my next PC setup.

On April the Ryzen 5 series will be released :) But if you want the 8 cores / 16 Threads, it is definitely worth to give Ryzen a try

Thank you!! It is working really great! I'm really impressed, but some softwares seems to be hardcoded to use only a few cores. An example is Nero Video, which I use to generate DVDs and Blu-Rays from my created content. PowerDirector however, uses all 8 Cores / 16 Threads when producing a video.

There should be an option to turn on to use all cores in the encoding options.
But normally you would want to use same threads in GPU as in CPU even tho im not an expert on this kind of software but maybe you'll find an option, let me know :)

Nope, unfortunately Nero Video doesn't have Core options. PowerDirector neither but that one does use the full potential of both the CPU and GPU. It is one of the fastest softwares rendering video projects
