Face ID : Technology of Future

Every year new technologies are emerging and existing ones are being improved. We have selected one of the most promising of them.

The fingerprint scanner has become the gold standard and is used in almost all smartphones, even budget. But Apple decided to move on and in 2017 presented its jubilee smartphone with the new technology Face ID. Now, to unlock the iPhone, just look at it. Moreover, if in other smartphones the face recognition function is just an option, then Apple simply abandoned Touch ID in favor of more advanced technology.

Face ID does not just pay so much attention. To fully implement the idea, Apple had to develop a system of sensors and cameras called True Depth. The system consists of an infrared camera, a backlight system and a point projector. Together they create a 3D cast of the face and store it in the phone's memory. When the user looks at the phone the next time, True Depth will take a picture of his face, compare it with the impression in memory and unlock the smartphone.

Although the technology has imperfections that can not be closed, Apple has definitely given a boost to other companies that will develop their Face ID counterparts. Most likely, in the future the face recognition function will become a new standard in the smartphone market.
