LG G7 + ThinQ smartphone.

The block is divided between the pros and cons. What I like about this device and what are the things that I did not like about this device.

And the con and the smartphone is not the battery. I was thinking that the battery might be the biggest con that's not the con. But there are some other unique things I have all list of good things and bad things about this one.

I thought the phone will be priced at 50000 rupees, But The good news is it is available at Rs. 40000/- in India. It comes with high end variant of 6GB of RAM and 128 storage. Before we proceed here are the specifications of the LG G7 +

QUICK SPECS
Snapdragon 845 SOC (Octa Core)
6GB RAM
6.1" iPS LCD Quad HD+ Screen (19:9 Aspect)
128 GB internal storage
Dual SIM Nano (hybrid slot)
Rare Dual Camera 16 MP f 1.6 + 16 MP (Wide Angle)
Front camera 8 MP F1.9 (portrait)
3000 mAH Battery
Fingerprint/ Wireless Charging/ IP68/ Android Oreo

First let me talk about the PROs of this device what I like about this device.

Price Point:

LG G7+ price point.jpg
So the first thing what I like about this device is is the Indian pricing it actually surprised me with the price point that the phone has it is a good flagship variant phone which could be compared with the phones like samsung S9 S9 Plus and all. The price gap is very huge be if we compare with that. With this one we got the true flagship features like. It has IP production, wireless charging, we are getting 128 GB internal memory and all other features so lG G7 + is very good regarding the price point.

Display:

LG G7 + comes with IPS LCD screen but the good thing is that the screen quality is amazing it's a quad HD + screen. And in this price range you will get a normal full HD screen with 19:9 Aspect Ratio Screen and it is very graceful to use, it is very crisp and the brightness is also good and even if you take it out in the sunlight it's good. And also in terms of colour production it's very good and this is actually HDR 10 screen and it also is the dolby vision certified. That means it is a very high quality screen. In terms of screen quality no issues it's a quad HD + screen that you are getting.

Looks & Build Quality

G7+ Water Resistant.jpg

Looks are subjective, this one is having the notch design on which you can hide the notch with the settings that you have on the display settings. Due to the notch, it looks a bit narrow and in terms of holding, it's actually even more comfortable when compared to LG v30 +. It slightly narrower, so fits easily in the hand. So in terms of in hand feeling it's actually good, but again as most of this flagship phone are going with the glass back design, and that is something you have to be aware of. It has a Gorilla Glass at its back which is fine. The main thing you can notice on this smart phone is it has IP-68 Certification which makes it water resistant and dust resistant. The water resistant feature works fine.

Cellular call quality

Cellular call Quality.jpg
I have no issues regarding the cellular phone quality and even the FPS quality is very good in fact the speaker phone is actually loud. It supports true dual 4G VOLTE and supports 4G on both the SIM card slots.

Headphone Jack

Headphone.jpg

It is having the 3.5mm hi-fi Quad deck Headphone jack, so if you listen to lot of music, and if you have high quality headphones, you really appreciate that. You can easily drive them and also it supports some new features like DTH surround sound, so you get those effects. And so in terms of audio via the headphone jack, one of the best I can say. And if you are a music lover there is no compromise for your love.

Sensors

Sensor.jpg

As it is a flagship device, there is no compromise regarding the sensors. All the sensors are present and the Indian Variant also supports wireless charging. I read somewhere that the international variants of LG G7 + will not support wireless charging but the Indian variant does support wireless charging. And of course it has fast charging the charger available in the box does support fast charging. It has all the other features that you would expect in a flagship phone. The fingerprint sensor is very responsive and also we have Face Unlock features.

The general performance of this phone as it has the flagship Snapdragon 845 processor so it has no issues regarding performance, no lag whatsoever that you would notice. Going to RAM it does has a 6 Gigabyte RAM and I have noticed no RAM management issues on this phone. LG is very good in terms of RAM management in their previous phones as well.

Camera

LG G7+ Camera.jpg

It has a dual camera setup 16 megapixel. First is regular angle camera and the second one is actually Wide Angle lens. The general snaps actually come out even like the fact that has the wide angle camera which is very useful at times. Low lighting conditions as it has the optical image stabilization the camera performance would not disappoint you. Moving to the front facing camera hey LG has definitely improved when compared with its previous models with 8 megapixel of front Camera. The front facing camera performance is pretty good and we have the Portrait mode even with the front facing camera. And If I compare with others flagship smartphones the front facing camera is not among the best. For example: Vivo, Oppo and even Samsung do a better performance regarding the camera compared with LG G7 +. The the video shooting with rear cameras in LG G7 + can be done in two modes one is the wide angle mode and one is the normal mode. In Wide Angle mode as the name suggest it covers the videos in Wide Angle and in a normal mode it's lot more narrower. The video stabilization is enabled in both the modes and does a good job. But I feel that the switching of narrow mode to Wide Angle mode could not be done when the video is being recorded. The front facing camera of LG G7 + and even the video stabilization is good with the front facing camera and I felt that this should have given a wider angle with the front facing camera well as you can see if you just take him normal photograph it is ok but while recording the video it crops in the frame quite a bit.

Battery

green-battery-symbol_23-2147494675.jpg

It just has a 3000 mAH battery and I thought what a disaster LG is doing with his phone. But I am surprised that the battery life actually holds well even when it is tested with two sim cards. It easily lasts for one typical working day for most users, if you are a very heavy use user with GPS and all. You would require to top it up in the evening. In terms of screen on time, I would say you will get about 4 to 4 and half hours of battery with its screen on time. Which is common in most of the flagship phones. One thing I like with this device is, if you are a casual user you can get one and half days of standby time with around 3 hours of internet usage and 50 minutes of call.

Now let's move to the cons :

I have to mention that it is a single speaker Smartphone and it is missing dual speakers they have not provided stereo speaker but it actually is loud. They have a good chamber in this if you place it on the desk or hard surface it actually bounces that and makes it actually very loud it's a very unique thing and it's actually irritating and it is slightly vibrating my desk. I miss the fact that it is not having stereo speakers & As they are pushing it out as a multimedia centric phone, the audio will be having high priority. You have the quad deck and everything but I don't know why LG opted for just a single speaker I accept that it is loud but you simply don't get that experience. They should have given stereo speakers. They should have given the speakers even with the microphone. Most of the flagship smartphone like Samsung S9 and oneplus 6 provide speaker even in the earpiece. And also I did not like the fact that they are not given the extra button below the the volume rockers. The volume control button launches the Google Assistant by default, that's a good thing but if it is accidentally hit, then Google Assistant will open by this.

And one more problem that we have is the user interface with LG. It's very cartoony user interface, very outdated and even if you go to the menu you have lot of pins. You have tons and tons of options you can't do everything on customizer. It does not lag but again, I am personally not a big fan of this user interface. And one more thing that I noticed is that in terms of Android updates they are lot slow in this terms. LG will eventually update this phone with Android P but I don't know when. LG does have a record of launching android updates to their smartphones very late. I would expect the Android P update on this device in the middle of 2019. In fact even on this device it is running with Android version 8.0 where is most of the other Android phone are already running on 8.1.

Now moving to other thing is that it supports VOLTE and JIO works very well with it. But other bands of VOLTE for providers like Airtel and Vodafone as of now does not support that.

So coming to the conclusion it is definitely much better than some of the other options like the owner or the one plus because this is sort of it true flagship phone it has premium features like Quad HD + screen with double vision and HDR + you also get ip68 certification which makes it water resistant so we have that it also supports wireless charging in this price range we don't find any other smartphone supporting wireless charging and big thing is that we are getting Six Sigma byte variant which comes with 128 internal storage. In terms of the above conditions I like the smartphone very much.

The only thing that LG needs to concentrate is about the Android updates and the speakers on this phone. I hope LG just wakes up with Android update record.
