How To Keep Your PC Protected From Viruses And Your Software Updated - Part I
It is incredible the number of people that neglect basic things needed to keep their PC's protected from online menaces like viruses, hackers, exploits and malware. You could save hundreds of dollars invested on hiring a PC technician to take care or "repair your PC" just following these simple guide rules that I will provide you.
Get an antivirus software
An antivirus for your PC is very important in order to keep it protected from many menaces swarming the internet mostly in the form of viruses. There are various paid and free options, but my recommendation to you is to get one of them and test it, if you don't like you can pick another one until you find the find one that suits your needs. These programs include protection against antivirus, malware and an integrated firewall for internet and network connections.
So far my recommendations are:
- Eset: Good performance, it is very easy to use, thanks to an excellent user interface and a self-configuring firewall. This one has been my personal choice to go in the last five years. It offers a free test option for 30 days, after those 30 days you will have to get a license to keep working with it.

- Bitdefender: It offers a guided tour of the program, which is displayed after the first start the software after installation. Excellent protection and performance.

- Kaspersky: The "live" tiles of the program interface, which shows real-time progress of scans and updates, very useful and innovative. Great performance and protection against viruses and malware.

- Avira: It is very easy to use, featuring a good interface and excellent performance and protection.

Get an anti-malware program
Even when the antivirus programs offer protection against malware and exploits is better to count on a specific program to take care of these menaces. My recommendation to you is to get Malwarebytes. This one has been my choice to go for several years, I am sure you won't regret it.
