Singapore Looks To Implement Flying Taxi System

Just this week at the Business Times Leaders' Forum in Singapore, a top official for the Ministry of Transport for the country-Mr Pang King Keong, outlined their plan for their futuristic ideas on what commuting in the south Pacific city-state is going to look like by 2030.

One of the key things they say that they are looking toward developing is a network of flying taxis.

They have already started to work with manufacturers in order to conduct trials with passenger-carrying drones. They have tried out a number of different machines; even a hoverbike is alleged to have been tested.

Within a few years, they want to have firmly established aerial transport as a means of commuting for urban mobility. The drones which they have been looking at are said to be: Hoversurf Scorpion, Volocopter VC200, and the Ehang 184.

And Singapore isn't the only place looking toward implementing a drone taxi system either, Dubai has also announced similar plans. And within the US, corporations like Uber and others have also signaled their interest to establish a network of flying cars.

It might not be very long before we'll be able to hail a flying taxi.

It's interesting to see how technological innovation and the rise of AI has helped to transform the transportation landscape around the world and yet it could still drastically change within just a few years time.

Just recently Airbus also revealed that they are going to be unveiling more details about their AI parcel-delivery drone trial for Singapore in the coming months.

It's possible that their plans for this system, they note, might also include transporting passengers as well. Airbus admits that they already have a variety of projects which are underway; related to the urban mobility market.

Leave it to Singapore to advance like this and take modernity to a whole new level! It's impressive what a this small city-state has been able to accomplish through their ingenuity and determination!

Singapore is a very interesting "model city" for the world... interesting how they are embracing technologies. Now, if there were just a way all these things could become affordable to normal people living in the "real" world... but I guess that will come, in time.

Man, I'm from Singapore and I didn't get the memo. Good thing there is steemit.

Hi @doitvoluntarily
Seriously this invention is going to have a major impact on traffic problems and pollution. I must recommend that it should be adopted worldwide.
