3D Printing On The Sea

The Cost Guard Research and Development Center that is located in Connecticut, is actively investigating the possibility of using 3D printing technology in order to boost their mission efficiency; in the way of logistical support.

3D printing technology has come a long way and it has already been used by the US Navy for years now. It's been used at sea to help print a clip for handheld radios, a submarine hull, to create a missile component, and more.

When it comes to the clasp that was printed for the Navy for example, it's alleged that those clasps will frequently break and replacing them can cost up to $600 or more at a time. The 3D printer has allowed the Navy to easily replace and fix the problem and they're saving lots of money by doing it.

By using the 3D printing technology, the US Navy has already saved itself tens of thousands of dollars.

At the moment, you can find 3D printing technology on at least 5 different Coast Guard vessels.

Not only that, but you can also find the technology being used at numerous shore units as well. They are looking for ways that the 3D printing technology can be used to try and provide maximum benefits to their organization, to help them boost their readiness and overall mission efficiency.

Just like with the Navy, the Cost Guard is also looking to the 3D printer to be able to help them create spare parts. In one instance, they've used it to make a nozzle for a dishwasher that was on-board a vessel. In some cases they might find that manufacturers no longer make the part that they are in need of and the 3D printer can really come in handy to help them to solve the issue and get what they need.

3D printing is a rapid production method that is sweeping through the market and making its way into many different industries. It's a production method that provides convenience, minimal waste, and it's a cost-effective solution for many.

Because of the growing prevalence of this technology, now there are also a growing number of schools around the world that have introduced 3D printing projects to try and help the children to learn about and train with the new technology. This technology certainly has come a long way and the potential seems limitless as to what you can use the printer to create.

Greetings @aballarde53, good to make your aquaintance!

interesting printer, This is what I call innovation, upvoted and followed too.

In DC national harbor, there is a car manufacturer that 3D prints cars. It is pretty wild. They do tours if you ever find yourself killing some time in DC.

I actually own a 3D printer and it's amazing how it creates figures just from my computer . I was able to create a house floor plan for one of my projects as well as anything from the littlest to the biggest . It takes hours but it's worth the results

It cost lots of money to buy then on top of that, takes loads of electricity

Wow I can't believe 3D printing is even used in the military.
It seems like it surely is the future and has come a long way
You can finally get that precision and accuracy which was difficult to get before
It's a good idea to bring more 3D printers into schools and teach kids how they work

3D printing is for sure a cool thing you can buy a house made by 3D printing and it is way cheaper than a normal house. It is saving lots of money in many ways. It is a very cool technology can't wait to see what it will do more in the future.

Really cool. I am a 3D printing guru, and this is news to me! Good read, glad to see some 3D stuff in here. Following!

That is really cool that the U.S. Naval forces have been able to utilize 3D printing technology to save on costly repairs.

Excellent information material, I congratulate you.

that cool, super interesting!
