:::.Motorola 68000.:::

In 1979 Motorola 68000 was released. It is a 16/32 bit processor. This processor was later used in the Apple Macintosh and Amiga computers.

||1982 - 1985||

:::.Intel 80286 || Intel 80386.:::

Intel introduced its 80286 on February 1, 1982 and 80386 in March 1985.

:::.SPARC.:::

Sun Microsystems introduces first SPARC (Scalable Processor Architecture).

:::.Intel 80386SX.:::

Intel introduced its 80386SX - A low cost variant of 80386.

:::.AM386 || Intel 486SX.:::

In March 1991 AMD introduced its AM386 family of processors. Same year in April Intel introduced 486SX - a lower cost processor ($258) for the PC market.

:::.Intel 486DX2.:::

On March 2nd 1992, Intel released 80486DX2 with an ability to double up the clock to operate at higher speeds.

||1993||

:::.Intel Pentium.:::

On March 22 1993, Intel released its first Pentium processor with 60MHz clock, 3.1 million transistors and a whooping price of $878.

||1994||

:::.Intel Pentium(Second Generation).:::

Second generation of Pentium processors comes to existence on March 7, 1994.

:::.Pentium Pro.:::

In November 1995, Intel introduces Pentium Pro processors.

:::.AMD-K5.:::

On March 27, 1996 AMD introduced the K5 processor with speeds ranging from 75MHz to 133MHz. It allowed the bus speeds of 50MHz, 60MHz or 66MHz. It is the first completely in-house developed processor by AMD.
In the same year on January 4, Intel announced availability of Pentium with clocks of 150MHz with 60MHz bus and 166MHz with 66MHz bus
