The basic building block of all modern processors i,e Silicon (Si) was discovered by Baron Jons Jacob Berzelius.

:::.Logic Gates.:::

Logic Gates or Switches, that were used in defining the logical circuits, were patented by Nikola Tesla.

||1947 - 1956||

:::.Transistor.:::

Three Bell Laboratories scientists John Bardeen, Walter Brattain and William Shockley invent the first transistor on December 23, 1947. In 1948 , the trio patented the worlds first transistor. In 1956 they were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for their extraordinary work on invention of transistor.

:::.Integrated Circuit.:::

Robert Noyce of Fairchild Semiconductor and Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments developed the worlds first Integrated Circuit (IC) and demonestrated it on 12th of September 1958.

:::.Intel.:::

Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore founded Intel corporation.

:::.AMD.:::

On May 1, 1969 Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was founded.

:::.Intel 4004.:::

Intel 4004 was the first microprocessor introduced by Intel on November 15, 1971 with the help of Ted Hoff. It had 2300 transistors, addressed 640 bytes of memory, performed 60,000 OPS (Operations Per Second) at a cost of $200.00.

:::.Intel 8008.:::

On April 1, 1972 Intel introduces 8008 microprocessor. It was an 8-bit CPU with an external 14-bit address bus that could address 16KB of memory.

||1974||

:::.Intel 8080.:::

Intel introduced its improved microprocessor chip in April 1, 1974. It quickly became a standard in the Industry.

||1976 - 1979||

:::.Intel 8085 || Intel 8086 || Intel 8088.:::

In March 1976 Intel introduced its 8085 chipset. It was succeeded by Intel 8086 on June 8, 1976 which in turn was succeeded by Intel 8088 on June 1, 1979.
