Facebook's real FACE: Links to story today and hints in the past

The investors did not stop selling shares in facebook even after its founder, mark zuckerburg apologized for data breaches, after all we are talking about 50 million users - “The users of facebook” – for those the day starts from it and ends on it, or one could say the virtual/imaginary duplicate of themselves, and guess what that’s exactly what the cambridge analytica was trying to do – creating psychological profiles of the persons and sending them pro trump materials to help his campaign.

Last week Elon musk tech-entrepreneur deleted the official pages for his tech companies Tesla and SpaceX, as the data being abused by cambridge analytica, particularly in context of politics. Musk also tweeted that “What’s Facebook?”.

You(Cambridge Analytica/ Facebook) are playing with the psychology of entire nation in the context of the democratic process, Says the Whistle blower Christopher Wiley – ex-data scientist at Cambridge analytica – He called it a virtual psychological weapon or work.

So how it all started:
It started this 19th of this month when cambridge analytica scandal breaks which on the same day caused approx 10$ decline on facebook’s share price from 185$. They have apps on facebook that were given special permissions that harvest data not from just the person who use then app but also it would then go into their entire friend network and pull out all of the friends data as well.

How they do it?
270,000 people used an app on Facebook to take a quiz in 2014, but the app harvested the data of the quiz users friends also, that’s around 50 million people.

Why they do it?
Its in their policy – if you’ve read the data policy link on facebook’s signup page, but the thing which causes this scandal is that they use it for political influence in the trump campaign in order to change the perception of reality and without the consent of the users. As cambridge analytica believes politics flows from culture if you want to change culture you have to understand what the units of culture are – and people are the units of culture.

How can I protect myself?
If you still want to use it, no offense.
Though facebook no longer allows third parties to scrap data in the same way, but you can do the things like checking your privacy security and app preference, use an ad blocker, when using other app read carefully what information you will be sharing etc..
