Let's learn about space network.

Space network integrates space and ground components to assist spacecraft communications which are in Earth vicinity. It is also known as the program of NASA.

Let's know about Tracking and Data Relay Satellites

In the year 1970's, the TDRS includes the space section of the Space Network. And the one which looks after the growth and working of the TDRS spacecraft is NASA Goddard space flight center. It primarily supplies continuous communication links between the ground and satellites.

The present TDRS layout is comprised of 9 in orbit-satellites (out of which 4 is from the first generation, 3 is from the second generation and 2 from the third generation) scattered to supply constant information service for the missions:-

  • International Space Station
  • The Hubble Space Telescope

TDRS-M was introduced in August 2017, and once if it will get accepted in 2018 in space network then the TDRS layout will increase to 10 in the orbit-satellites.

Now, space technology is a kind of a technology which had progressed by the science of space or the industry of aerospace for the utilization of spaceflight, space exploration or satellites. It comprises of spacecraft, satellites, space station, etc

It is a satellite which has deliberately been positioned into orbits. These kinds of objects are mainly called as artificial satellites to differentiate them from the satellite which is natural such as Moon.
A first human-made satellite was Sputnik 1 which was discovered and launched on 4th of October, 1957 by the Soviet Union.

Sputnik 2 conveyed the first lively passenger in orbit which was a dog name as, Laika and was discovered and launched on 3rd November 1957.

Types of satellites

Communication satellites

It generates the channel of communication between a source transmitter and a receiver which is located at different positions on the planet Earth.

It is mainly utilized for television, telephone, internet, etc. There are more than 2,000 communication satellites in the orbit of Earth which is being used by both the organizations of private and government.

Satellite of television

It is a kind of service that conveys programming of the TV to the viewers in general, by transferring it from a communication satellite which is from the orbit of Earth to the viewers directly.

Earth Observation Satellite

It is a kind of satellite which is drawn explicitly for the observation of Earth from orbit. Most of the satellites of Earth observations convey instruments that are run at comparatively low altitude.

Altitudes which are under the 500-600 kilometers are avoided. The main satellites of Earth Observation are ERS-1, ERS-2, etc.

Reconnaissance satellite

It is a kind of observation of Earth satellite or communication satellite which is used for intelligence and military implementation.

In the country US, most of the information accessible was in programs which prevailed up to 1972, as this information was declassified. Some information related to applications are still classified.
