Poem: "The World Owes You Nothing"

Here you go again, feeling like you're excruciatingly crestfallen.
You must wonder, why do you cry this often?
That things are in such a mess!
Everything is ruined, but you're probably to blame for most of that.
You just can't seem to fix it.
Does it hurt so much?
Like there's a spear in your stomach?
And your heart feels like it's just about to smoulder and die?
Then you think you really wish it would.

Why are you like this? Why do you feel like you're wandering?
You wish you could start your life all over again, and you'd change everything.
You have made so many devastating blunders in your life,
That you'd really want to change everything.

You probably look back sometimes, and you wonder how you got there.
What made you who you are right now; what changed you.
Because nothing is okay right now.
That when you look at people you once adored,
Your stomach would just turn.
That when you walk into the place that once signified your very existence,
And you'd feel so out of place,
Your skin would wriggle and writhe in anguish.
You feel like you're alone and all you can think about
Is what a pile of mess your life has become,
Like what you have is so much shoddier than everyone else.

Well, guess what?
The world doesn't owe you anything.
Get your life together and stop blaming everybody else.
Your choice. Your body.
No one is holding you by the scruff of your neck to act a certain way.
You alone are responsible for your own mistakes.
So own up to it, and maybe it's time that you grow up,
And stop acting like you have always been hard done by.
