Seany Singapore Series #7 Bringing you on a tour of Free Flow Alcohol! 🍺🍺

in #teamsingapore6 years ago (edited)

A few days ago I posted a teaser photo of the Tiger/Asia Pacific Breweries, check it out here: https://steemit.com/streetphotography/@seanytan/beer-lover-s-paradise

Today I will bring you on a tour inside the factory, as well as FREE FLOW alcohol!

That day, I was actually invited by a business partner to check out the Brewery Tour, and since I have never been to one before, I thought it would be an interesting experience. However, a head's up, I do not know anything about beer or alcohol, and I am a very very occasional drinker.

I would say that a few years back, when I was 'forced' to drink alcohol at my Friend's place in China by his relatives, I had a very high alcohol tolerance and capacity. I recall drinking something that was probably over 40% alcohol, but it did not really affect me much. But now, even drinking something that has over 7-8%, my face becomes a little red (for someone that is quite tan like me, that is weird, i guess?)

We took a coach into the Factory, located somewhere in the West of Singapore. It is not a place you would normally go or pass by, as it is full of Industrial Estates and other factories.

Once we reached the area, it was evident that alcohol/beer was being made here.

The first place we had to report to was the General Office, where we were given lanyards to show that we were Registered visitors for that day's tour. We were also greeted by a Tiger.

Although the iconic Tiger is prominent throughout the entire tour and factory layout, Asia Pacific breweries houses many other brands as well, such as Heineken, Guinness, Anchor, Baron's and Strongbow amongst many others.

At the front gallery, we could see many LCD screens showing information about the Brewery's history, and more notably Tiger and its relation with Singapore history. A guide appeared and talked us through the tour, and he gave some commentary on the brand. On the shelves, we could see the evolution of the brand, and the many variations and bottle designs it has been through. Many of the older visitors felt really nostalgic looking through these designs, as if looking back on a chapter of their lives.

There was a souvenir shop just beside as well, and some participants went to check out the merchandise on sale.

We then headed upstairs to a mill, with many machinery around, bottling the beer cans and bottles. Unfortunately, there must have been some secret technique involved so I was not allowed to take photos in there. There was a really strong smell of probably fermentation though.

Then, we were escorted to this section where we could touch some of the grains, and hops used. The smell again was quite strong. The smell also lingered on my hands after this. We took a few photos around the area as well, take a look!

And then came the moment we were all waiting for. Free flow alcohol!! and of course FOOD! I was famished.

The participants quickly scooped up some food, but their eyes were all on the alcohol. They chose the first few that they liked and laid them on the small table.

I started off with something really unique, and not that alcoholic. It tasted really quite nice!

As the evening progressed, I went ahead to try small cups of various alcohols, and even the really black one, like Guinness. I didn't really like it. I guess all these drinks are more of an acquired taste.
