Stars in universe.
Have you ever looked up into sky and wondered how many stars are there in space? This question is very difficult to answer, cause even scientists don't know exact answer to it. Stars are not scattered randomly through space, they are gathered together into groups also known as galaxies. Astronomers tells us that there is bout 100 thousand million stars in the Milky way alone, and outside of Milky way there is millions and millions other stars in galaxy.
Someone said that counting stars it's same as counting little sand grains on beach. Look up into sky and you will see a few thousand stars with your naked eyes.

Brightest star in the sky is Sirius, it's placed next to the Sun. Distance between earth and Sirius is 8.6 light years. You can even see Sirius against deep blue sky while Sun is still above horizon. Ancient Egyptians based their calendar to this star on its first summer sightings at dawn.

Age of stars are determined by astronomers by looking at their spectrum, motion though space and luminosity. After determining this, they use information of star's profile and compare star models that show what stars should look at various points of their evolution. Sun, as the brightest star, is old about 4,6 billion years.

Smallest stars are called tiny red dwarfs. Our Sun, by size, is average size star. Diameter of Sun is 1.4 million km. By the end of Sun life, Sun diameter will be around 300 times bigger than now. Biggest star in Universe is called VY Canis Majoris and its about 1800 times bigger than Sun.

About half of the stars in Milky Way is older than 4-5 billion years. Speed of moving Milky Way through space is about 550 km/s.

Everyone knows about falling stars or other called shooting stars. There is a old story that tells you when you see shooting star to make a wish, i'm still doing that, sometime my wish will be true maybe. :) Falling stars are not real stars, they are little pieces of dust that impacting Earths atmosphere and burning up. Scientific name of falling stars are actually meteors. Size of burning trail of meteor depends of how fast it was going and the angle of struck the atmosphere.

Thank you. I remember years back at summer, my friends and i were laying down on grass for few hours and looking at stars and enjoying the view. :)
kontam da je nalepse oticiu u selo, gde nema ul;icnog osvetljenja i uzivati u kako kazu "milion zvezdica rangiranom hotelu". moja je to praksa godinama, kada se zvezde padalice najave. :)

@divisionbell ništa ti ne fali i da odmah odeš. Svi bi nešto u starosti na selo. Idi u punoj snazi. A ne ceo život po fensi kafićima a na kraju ja sam ljubitelj prirode pa ću da umrem u selu. :)
