Blog #002: Update announcement and future of play-to-earn
Did not expect to write my second blogentry so fast, but there were some major announcements today so let's see what they are about:)
Genesis Invitational
Today around noon, the Gods Unchained Genesis Invitational was announced on their official Discord. Eight invited contestants will fight for the tournament win, and the best thing is: There will be free Genesis pack giveaways! You might know this kind of event from Hearthstone. Just watch the stream and from time to time some packs will be gifted to random players. This is called "Twitch Drops". Depending on the number of people watching and the amount of packs they give away, this can be pretty profitable. There is nothing to lose, so give it a try!
Update and Evolution system
In an email sent to all players, also copied to this reddit thread, a new update was announced going out tommorow. It will give us "major optimizations and performance improvements" We'll see.
Way more exciting are the newly revealed plans for the play-to-earn mechanic. The responsible developer is Ramin Shokrizade, who is well known in the field of virtual goods sales. The Evolution-system aims to balance the market of core cards, which would otherwise be inflated, because over time any player will earn a lot of them by leveling up. The idea is to fuse multiple core cards that aren't relevant for the meta or just too common into a new item, be it a trinket, packs or a specific cards. It's basically a crafting mechanic that serves as a card sink.
To me, this sounds very rewarding. Creating demand for otherwise useless cards seems to be a good idea. Even if you don't have all the material that is required, for a short period of time the market value of these cards will rise, giving you an opportunity to gain some ETH. I would love to hear some of your opinions on this :)
Great summary of the recent announcement. I'm also excited about the option to sink cards into trinkets or other items!
It's kind of the equivalent to Hearthstones Arcane Dust, which is a bit more universal because you can use it at all times, but of course it does not give any tradeable rewards.I'm very curious how the cosmetics will perofrm on the market, since I don't really care about the looks of my board^^
