Journey of the Mighty 'Lihing' Fruit Cake
This is the Mighty 'Lihing' Fruit Cake made and baked with love. 'Lihing' (rice wine) is a local traditional brew by Kadazandusun in Sabah. Its nice if you taste one cup of it once, more nicer if you taste 2 cups and 3 cups and so on.. you feel like you want to party all nite long.
The Mighty 'Lihing' Fruit Cake has been going around Borneo and even flown to Kuala Lumpur to spread its love.
The story began when two beautiful ladies, Ms Kila and Ms Jen combined their ideas to do good for the unfortunate children in Kampung Tinanduk, Pensiangan, Sabah Borneo. They pledged to fundraise tables, chairs and stationeries for these unfortunate children.
Situated in the rural area of Borneo and can only be accesible by boats the newly Community Learning Centre (CLC) building at Kg Tinanduk was build from wood by generous NGOs to provide pre-school education for young children. The CLC can also be used for other community programs such as training for women and youths.
Newly constructed CLC.
The centre still in need of proper tables, chairs and stationeries.
The building is not fully ready as the ceiling is yet to be installed.
The Mighty Fruit Cakes start its gears and engines to help fund the improvement of the kindergarten earliar December 2017.
The simple recipe from Ms Jen.
Children, youths and ladies worked together to make it happen.
Generous donors from all over Sabah
Generous donors from all over Sarawak
Sold 12 kg of it at an exhibition at Park Royal Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Before Christmas the Mighty Fruit Cakes surpassed the 2 lovely ladies target of contributing RM500.00 to the CLC. Thats the power of the Mighty Fruit Cakes!
Next, we went to hunt for tables, chairs and stationeries today. Not succesful...we'll try again tomorrow...

Oh wow! Now I must try and make this. Fruit cake is one of my favorite treats but no one else in my family likes it very much. This looks so delicious, I may just have to make it and then eat just a little every day. What a wonderful post. Thanks @verasj--I'm your newest follower.
Yes, do try the recipe.. use rum or vodca to replace the rice wine. But be careful, its addictive and the alchohol might go to the head. hahaha
