Earthquake!

Looking back on the errands that @kilathecla and I have done few days ago on our Mission Impossible

reminds me of the first time I ever experienced an earthquake in Sabah, Borneo.

But before that, let me talk briefly about the purpose of this project. Seismic Station Disarray project is a collaboration between University of Cambridge, UK and University Sabah Malaysia (UMS) to do an experiment on earthquake in Sabah, Borneo. It will be installed to forty eight recognised locations all over Sabah. Our organisation was assigned as contractor for materials and general works.

Okay, enough about that. Now I'm going to talk about my first time ever experienced an earthquake and also some funny thing happened.

MY EXPERIENCE

It was a calm morning on Friday, June 5, 2015. I and @beverlyjoe were on leave from work that day. So, after sending our daughter to school, we went to my mum-in-law house aka family house our second house. Nobody was in the house that day, so as usual @beverlyjoe will get comfy on the sofa in the living room and watched delay football match, and I was in the kitchen looking for something to eat.

Suddenly, I felt the ground was shaking, I got angry as I thought our neighbour drove a big lorry through the small road just next to the house. My mum-in-law already warned them not to do so, but still some people are so ignorant. I looked through the window from the kitchen and saw there's no lorry passing through. So, I went to the living room and asked @beverlyjoe if he'd seen any lorry. At first, @beverlyjoe was fast asleep..instead of him watching the television, the television watched him..Lol.

He then woke up and stand up, look at me and said "Gempa Bumi!" (means Earthquake). I got panic and scared, so I run to the door to go outside of the house but he shouted at me "Don't go out!" I was like...ehh..what should I do? I just looked at him and he looked at me.

The tremor lasted for like few seconds.. probably 15 second or so. Luckily it stopped, and the first thing I did was to check my facebook for updates. It was reported that there is a moderate earthquake measuring 5.9 on the richter scale hit Ranau, near Mount Kinabalu at 7.15 am Malaysian time. National Earthquake and Tsunami Centre, in a statement, said the tremor was felt in most places in Sabah, including Ranau, Tuaran, Tambunan, Penampang, Kota Belud and Kota Kinabalu.

MY SISTER-IN-LAW

My sister-in-law was driving during the earthquake happened. She said that she stopped at a traffic light and suddenly, her car was shaking. She looked at the driver inside the car next to her and he look at her back in panic face. Coincidently, at that traffic light there was a tall structure of electrical transmission tower. She thought that there was a monster attacking the tower … LOL .. this is the effect of watching too much Ultraman and Monster series.

So, what happened was she saw drivers from the other cars came out from their wheel. She just kept quiet in her car and when the tremor stopped, she drove her car while wondering what had just happened.

MY MOTHER-IN-LAW

My mother-in-law have a restaurant at Donggongon town. Her restaurant was located at ground floor of 3 storey building. That morning she was in her restaurant when she felt like she was swaying and she thought that she was going to faint because of her high blood condition. She asked her staff and they told her that its an earthquake. She got panic and run out from the restaurant, but still she managed to grabbed the pouch where she kept all her income collection and handphone … LOL.. Yeah money is important LOL

She told us that, some of her customer even run out from the restaurant holding their coffee .. LOL.

Tenants residing the building from 2nd and 3rd floors also run out for safety out of the building. There’s one tenant residing at 3rd floor run for safety to the ground floor. The funny thing was he still covered with soap and shampoo all over his body…luckily he still have his boxer on…LOL.

Yeah thats it guys, lots of funny things happened that day. I only posted the funny stuff here. I kinda not want to share the sad part where the mountain climbers and their tour guides died that day. It makes me sad, so maybe next time I talk about that.
