Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET)

All TVET Institutions under 7 Ministries be merged & known as TVET Malaysia
Malaysia TVET Masterplan (RM4.9b)
TVET Outstanding Student Scholarship (RM4.5m)

For your information, besides the Education Ministry, six other ministries involved in implementing the TVET are the Human Resources; Higher Education; Works; Youth and Sports; Rural and Regional Development; and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry ministries

Here are some comments from our local TVET experts/educators

"It should be merged to two instead of just one as TVET is just not only about vocational training. It should include MOE, besides MoHR"
"In Japan, they have two systems called Vocational Training under MHLW (Health, Labour & Welfare) and Vocational Education under MEX (Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology"

"Some of the high ranking officials in many ministries unfortunately think the whole national agenda is about themselves. They forget it's just an amanah given by the Almighty God. So much of resources being wasted and our students and future generations become victim "

Well, I'm not an educator, only long enough in the industry to give my thoughts. If it's just one, it could be too taxing to the MoHR. Furthermore, they may not have the expertise in all area, especially on the education side for the lower & upper secondary levels, which I think best to leave it to MOE.

Nevertheless, if it's these 2 Ministries, then there should be a close collaboration and partnership (must not forget to get inputs from the stakeholders - industry & training providers) so that strategies could be implemented seamlessly for the benefit of the nation's TVET industry.
