Give Steem Power Instead Of Steem

in #teammalaysia6 years ago (edited)

I have a friend who doesn't wanna write anymore. So he delegated all of his Steem Power to 1 of our team member for a fee. He promised to not look at his steem account for awhile, and also gave me his posting key to help upvote valuable posts as partly sponsoring #cn-malaysia.

At first, I pay him with Steem. But then after 2 months, I seen this Steem I paid him still sitting there do nothing. I gave him a call and asked him to power up, so his upvote will be useful despite he's not physically present during each upvote. Rather than Steem sitting at the account serve absolutely no purpose, atleast converted to Steem Power, his portion of upvote will have a better vesting power. He does it, and told me I could keep the payment and does it one shot towards end of the year. Ofcourse that will be good. But as a Chinese traditional thinking person, I don't like to owe "rental". He's saying that just because he doesn't wanna trouble to login and power up every month. I thought of it and decided to give it a try, try to power up for him directly, and it works. Below are my screenshot and walkthrough in case if you need to use this function.

First, go to wallet

Click on the Steem drop down and select Power Up

A script will pop up as usual. Select ADCANCED

Now you can change the beneficiary instead of self, put the person ID you wished to send to, followed by amount. Do check on the amount again. This is not revisable once transaction completed. An extra zero or two will make you cry for a very long time. If you choose to make such mistake, pls also make another mistake by putting my ID in the beneficiary column. Thanks in advance.

After which, you need to key in your WIF in order to execute the transaction

Transaction in progress

Transaction completed! Congratulations

Just to double confirm, I will normally check on beneficiary account to confirm my "payment" went through, and capture a screenshot and message him personally.

So, here you go. A simple guide to powering up for other people. Some may ask, why take the trouble? Might as well just send Steem or SBD? Well, there's no absolute answer to this. To me, having Steem power is long term commitment. Atleast the SP going out is not going to be liquidated/cash out immediately. Atleast not until 13 weeks of power down process.

Have fun

Wow, thanks for the detailed guide bro, you're "Sibeh ho liao" XD

Ah good idea!!! But So many people leaving steemit.... sighh

Think about where @kevinwong was when Steem price plunged to $0.07 about a year and a half ago from now. The similar situation where people left the platform. Along the way, there are people gave up for various reasons. Steem price currently $3.06. Meaning each 1$ you earned in blogging, there's only 0.114SP going back to your wallet. If you think the pay out is low now, and come back later when Steem Price hit $10, the same 1$ blog earning you'll only get 0.011SP instead. Save as many as we can, but try not to trouble ourselves too much for trying to save them. It's only a game.

On the dark side, it could be Steem shut down and we're all fucked. But hey, it's a game yo. Activision got bought over by Electronic Arts, they no longer update my game Battlezone. Can I blame them? Life goes on. I still have a copy of that game CD keeping in my drawer. It's not like I'm going to put the game back to life and play again, but I'm just going to keep there for as long as possible. HODL

You great!!! @kevinwong is really your bible.....😂 Think @kevinwong will be happy to know this!!
Cheers!!!

I spell wrong you also spell wrong. Kevin is his name.

Lol!!!! Corrected. Hope he knows he got hardcore fans over here!

Very useful little tip. Thx Dave.

Have fun powering up. Despite this is still a crypto game, but it gotten so real that I had to "pay rent" with crypto for crypto. ROTFFLMFAO

Good sharing for the newbies info @davidke20. I agree with you, its more beneficial to power up Steem than just leaving it like that inside the wallet, as you said it will much safer as it is harder to be transferred out if the account is hacked.

Hey @beverlyjoe, thanks for dropping by. By nature, yes it's safer as you mentioned. In my case, the owner of the account has absolutely no activity at all. Hence, by right there's no way it get hacked as well.

As a normal condition, you do not power up other people unless you willingly to do so for some reason you wanna award that person and you do not want that person to cash out. This does not include hosting competition. Prize giving does not mean you can purposely power up for the person and call it prize delivery, or your contestant could get angry and stir some shit with the fan. If it's meant to be paid in Steem/SBD, please do so. Unless you state it as, you will pay in Steem Power, and do mention power down will take 13 weeks to power down in your disclaimer. That will avoid further argument.
