TDIF!!!!
Lately I have been working on figuring out my camera on my Huawei P20 Pro. It's got a Leica triple camera with the option of having AI to help you out. AI is fun and all for things like capturing clouds, dogs, cats, flowers and all cause it has built in settings for just those things. But I wanted to venture out of that and see what else I can do. Some are fails and some are cool.
So let's start with some doggy pictures.
Not too clear for a pic. I zoomed in to get a better shot. Perhaps I was moving too much.
This one too isn't too clear. Not sure what I am doing other than perhaps still moving too much or I need to fix the focus through pro mode.
So Piper got curious as I was giving up on my phone, trying to figure things out as I lied down on the floor. Ugly shot but it's still fun.
So with these dogs shouting out "THANK DOG ITS FRIDAY!" I can now share other pictures I took.
I have been trying to figure out how to take a certain type of pictures without having to go through editing it after as I don't really have any program to do that. The less I have to mess around with a picture the better it is.
And this one wasn't it.
And this one either....
And tried and tried as I might, changing configurations and all that fun stuff, I think my camera would still take the same style of pictures. Thus people starting to get tired of me taking pictures of them, resulting in funny faces.
Then I just got tired of it myself and handed it over to someone else. After 10-15 minutes of going through it all, he found out how to do it! Then handed me my phone after so I could have a go at it.
And voila!
YAY! I got what I have finally wanted to do for months! Yes I am slow learning with this.
It's too bad that I move in that one above. It would have been just so perfect.
So that was fun to take, until I started getting carried away with it and...
...I cut off his nose. Oops.
So that's the fun I have been having over time. I'm sure there are many more discoveries to be made with this camera. And I just found out that there is not the P30 pro. What in the world could be added to such an already awesome phone?

If you got some dog pictures you would like to share, consider using the new tag #TGIF (Thank Dog It's Friday) and tag a friend, me and @rebeccabe. There is also the tag #dogsofsteemit that you can all have a look at. Have fun while showing off your pooch!
wow these are really great shots.. I like all of them
Thanks!
Can an iPhone do that or is it only something your phone does because those pictures are dope. I think the one that’s not darkened like the last few with the girl making an off guard face is good quality too. Messing with these damn new phones and trying to figure them all out is never fun. You should hear my sailor mouth while trying to figure out the GoPro and iPad… 🤦🏼♀️
:D Thanks!
I don't know if iPhones can do that. I'm thinking that the later models should. My phone has 3 cameras on the front of it to deliver good quality. But the quality also comes from the person taking the picture. My dog pics are not as clear as the one you are talking about. It's hard to be still lol. Apparently I should be able to take nice pictures when things are in motion so thats the next thing I want to jump on and learn about.
Haha! You and me both with the sailor mouth. My phone is pretty smart but I treat it as though it was the dumbest thing ever! But I still love it. So... yeah I guess I'm mentally abusing my phone XD
They mentally abuse us. They treat us like we are the dumbest things ever… and these dang kids just grab one knowing how to innately work the thing. It’s crazy!
Did you say your phone has 3 cameras? That’s awesome! Looking forward to your upcoming photography then 😉
Ok, I don't feel bad for treating my phone that way :p
Yeah 3 cameras on the front side and one on the other. It's a lovely phone just for the camera. Imagine, I am still learning about the camera and I still haven't learned about the rest of the things it can do. I'm clueless lol.
So are we. We still haven’t figured out how to work our iPad and GoPro together to make short vids for recipes. It’s been 6 months… haha
I feel you. It's almost a year that I have mine lol. No ipads though. I don't even know what a GoPro is haha.
It’s a badass camera. Water proof, shake proof so you can strap it to your bicycle and record your tour (or whatever) and it takes great pics. Super affordable too… anyway, we only know how to take pics with it or vids but do not know how to make the vids into clips that are audience proof. Give us another year and we might have it :)
Oh this sounds neat! I may just look into it. Would love water proof cameras :D
@foxyspirit I REALLY like the last few shots!! How did you manage to get that black background with soft outlines? ((':
Thank you :D
So don't laugh because I have been trying to figure this out for months, but the options are just right there!
On my phones camera I go on portrait mode. Under that there is the lighting option "Classic lighting". It puts a circle on the screen. I have seen it before and it did nothing like above but found out after by the man helping me, that the camera has to detect a face which can mean getting the phone up close to the person. Then once taking the picture, the phone automatically takes away all the color and background that is outside of the circle, makes it black and does all that nice stuff like shown. It's perfect for me and those that don't get all the lighting stuff.
There are other lighting options as well in portrait mode and also in pro mode. I'm still working on all of that :P

Wow I didn't think you could get these kinds of shots with that phone. I should see if mine can do it too wow. Thank the dogs!
:D let me know how it goes ^_^ Would love to see some pics from you. Do you have the same phone?

@foxyspirit interesting idea of using AI for photography. Ive been playing with the idea of machine learning with style transfer photography. Looks like they came out interesting, the last ones even more so.

I'm not sure what you mean by style transfer? There is so much to learn about photography, I wish I knew more of what's out there. First I have to learn how to work my camera without the AI part. It will take some time. But I like thought of not having to edit so much. I prefer making the picture next to perfect from the get go keeping it as natural as possible.
@foxyspirit oh, it's what I've been posting on #trippythurday. I take black and white photos and have an AI add colors back to the photos using "style transfer" it can have interesting results.
Best of luck learning your camera.
That's Cool! I will have a look at it :D
Thank you :)
More dogs!
