An Idea and the Devil!

It starts with an idea. The idea may come from a skill honed over the years, a hidden talent, an inspirational product, or an inner entrepreneurial spirit that has lay dormant out of fear for the unknown. Every business starts with the seeds of an idea. All of the skill, talent, or belief in a product that burns in your soul will only get you part of the way to your goal of business success. As they say, the devil is in the details.

Tax Break started as an internal department for a group of small businesses. Now, I won’t bore you with all of the details, but let’s suffice it to say that we too started with an idea. That idea was to take the practical knowledge of everything we were doing to keep our businesses successfully managed and offer that as a service to other like-minded businesses. Our conservative approach to cash flow management, expense control, and making sure that tax liabilities are taken very seriously, allowed us to take our diverse group of businesses into profitability. We have successfully kept our own books, managed inventories, handled payroll, and prepared our taxes internally for several years. This type of real world adaptable management was not available to us with outside firms. We found that we were having to conform our business to the ways of our Accountant, rather than the other way around. Not only that, but we were asked to pay a hefty premium for that service. This just didn’t sit well with us. We developed a way to handle this internally, based on how our unique situation dictated, not an industry standard. After talking to other small businesses who had run into the same problems of high fees, unbending methods, and a general lack of interest to offer anything outside of generic accounting/tax advice, we realized that there were many businesses in the same boat. The idea of Tax Break sprung from a simple question, why not offer our methods to the public?

There are many accounting choices out there; good ones, bad ones, ones that fit, ones that don’t, but how do you find the one that is best for you? Well, that is the trick isn’t it? A Google search will give you a slew of choices, but not a lot of answers. So we have decided to make ourselves known. Through this blog, you can get to know who we are. We aren’t here to change your situation if you are satisfied, but if you aren’t satisfied, you owe it to yourself to find out if we are the back office firm that you have been hoping for.
