Kim's Taste #3: Indulge Yourself at Cafe Namoo
Hello tasteemers!
Welcome to the third session of Kim's Taste! This time, what I'm going to review is about beverage places (cafes, bars, etc.). One particular cafe that's famous here in Cebu is Cafe Namoo.
As stated in my previous reviews, I will be documenting my food escapades and share my impression of the restaurant based on the parameters I had previously set. This time is about a cafe that's famous in a certain demographics, particularly the millenials. As always, this is exclusive for @tasteem.
As I've tried to be fair in my reviews, I divided them into four (4) categories namely: Drinks, Ambience, Service, and Price. I will be rating the cafe in review from 1 to 5 based on my own experience.
Remember: If you happen to be in one of the cafes in my review, we might have different preferences, as well as experiences, so our ratings might not be exactly the same.
Okay, let's move on! As for Cafe Namoo, kaja!
With the rising trend of cafes in Cebu a few years ago, a lot of new concepts have emerged just to attract customers. Korean inspired cafes were also sprouting in different areas of Cebu where people usually converge.
Cafe Namoo is no exception to this trend. It's a Korean inspired cafe that has a customer demographics on its own. It might have a similar name in Korea and United Arab Emirates, but I think they're not of the same franchise.

- Cafe Namoo - Ras al Khaimah - United Arab Emirates [Korean Cafe and Restaurant]
As expected, those are not of the same franchise as Cafe Namoo here in Cebu. Cafe Namoo #1 is an Italian Restaurant, Cafe Namoo #2 is a Coffee Shop with a different logo, and Cafe Namoo #3 is a Korean Cafe and Restaurant with also a different logo.
Cafe Namoo is famous because Namoo means wood or tree in Korean. Aside from Cafe Namoo, there's also Namoo Cafe, House Namoo, etc. This means that Namoo is a choice when it comes to branding. I don't know what's the reason behind this, so I'll just leave it as is.
Let's start with the drinks.
DRINKS - 4.0/5
Cafe Namoo's menu is varied when it comes to drinks. They have a wide range of selections so you don't have to worry much if you are picky when choosing a drink of your choice.
In terms of taste, I think it's fair to say that it's above average. It's not the best, but it will satisfy your cravings, as well as quench your thirst. I ordered mango smoothie when we visited Cafe Namoo and when it comes to mango, I will definitely empty my glass.
The only downside that I realize is that it's too sweet for me. That's why I gave it a 4.0 rating. Also, feedbacks from my friends are varied from very good to fair.
AMBIENCE - 4.5/5
I think that this is the strongest selling point of the cafe and mainly the reason why people come and chill. Cafe Namoo is composed of compartments or "bunk beds" where you can squat and chill. There are also a lot of stuffed toys that you can lean on when you're tired.
The place is definitely instagrammable. It has a lot of colorful sticky notes with scribbles from previous customers. It's a feast to the eyes.
One thing the management should work on is the maintenance. Since there are a lot of stuffed toys, regular cleaning and replacement is necessary as it harbors a lot of dusts.
SERVICE - 4.0/5
I can't really say much about their service because there's not much interaction going on. You just have to order something from the counter and then go to your chosen spot. They will just bring your drinks and that's it.
Others would say that the staffs roam around to deter couples from having PDAs (public displays of affection). Since we're on the upper portion of the compartment, we really didn't notice anything. We just continue chatting and laughing and catching up with what's going on with our lives.
PRICE - 4.2/5
Their price range is I think standard rates in Cebu. Prices of drinks and other items in the menu ranges from Php 120.00 to Php 200.00. If your purpose is just to chill, then this place is for you. You can just order a drink and be at your spot.
The reason I gave it 4.2 is that I think the pricing could still be improved. There are items that I think are overpriced, given the quality of their service and the venue.
OVERALL - 4.175/5
Cafe Namoo is a casual place to chill and be with your friends. There's not much extra into their menu or service. No wonder it's famous to students and millenials, it's just a place to hang out. Overall, it's slightly above average, and not over the top.
