TacoCat's TrEats #55: Wolfing down delicious gourmet Burgers! 🐺

I decided to try a different contest today and the BBQ and Burgers one looked pretty interesting (totally not because I'm out of content for the others heh)!
To be honest, we don't really eat burgers all that much (even fast food) but I do like burgers quite a bit; it's just a mood thing I guess.
But one of my favourite burger joints here in Singapore is this place called Wolf Burger!
So a couple of months back, we were to meet our college friends at this gourmet food hall (aka hipster food court) in the city centre. The food hall is called PasarBella, and houses quite a few stalls of various cuisines such as Japanese, Western, Turkish and more.
But I feel the really unique thing about PasarBella is the interior decor. Inspired by the streets of the lower east side in New York City, there are street art illustations and graffitied walls all over PasarBella, with eclectic furnishings as well.
It's actually a really cool-looking place and it's definitely instagram-worthy. The food can be a little pricey, but since it's located in the city centre, you can't really complain.
Anyway, one of the shops in PasarBella is Wolf Burger! And since their stall is one of the cheaper options in PasarBella (if you ordered a la carte), we decided to split a burger.

Unforunately, they didn't have the particular flavour that I liked at the time (the Truffle Mushroom Beef burger), so we decided to try the Salted Egg Fried Chicken burger instead.
It was pretty good; there was a lot of red cabbage and you could really taste the salted egg flavour in the chicken patty, which was also crispy. It was good, but I still preferred the Truffle Mushroom Beef better. I'm not really a huge fan of truffles (the taste is a bit too strong sometimes), but Wolf Burger uses it really well.
This is the Truffle Mushroom Beef burger I ate long ago at another outlet. The truffle is complemented by the portobello mushroom they use, which is covered with melted cheese on top of a juicy beef patty.
I think this is still my favourite flavour Wolf Burger to this day. I don't know if it's my all-time favourite burger, because I'm quite a fan of crispy burgers, but if we're talking non-crispy burgers, this one is definitely up there.
So Wolf Burgers is actually a homegrown gourmet burger joint, and was a joint venture started by 4 people right here in Singapore! They initially started with a little "brunch-focused" bistro that featured "hearty meats", called Carvers & Co, which has since shut down. But they did have one iconic item that inspired them to open a new restaurant, the General Burger!

The General Burger was named one of the top 3 burgers in Singapore in 2015, and motivated by the positive reception, they decided to specialise in gourmet burgers, and the rest is history. The PasarBella branch I went to was actually their flagship outlet, as the "fun, young and edgey" image of the gourmet food hall fit their vision for Wolf Burgers.

Currently, Wolf Burgers has 5 outlets in Singapore, but 2 of them are delivery only. They also recently opened a branch in Hokkaido, which I think is really cool! You don't really see Singapore brands overseas, so I hope they do well!
