Catches of the world from Dock to Dish (Dock)
International trade being so advanced these days, food from all over the world is easily accessible without having to visit the country of origin. The story of Dock arises from wanting to bring live catches from all over the world to your platter. The toughest part of serving seafood is maintaining the freshness of it, which Dock has managed to sustain on the goods that they bring in.
Step into their sunny sunshine colored door, all the while being greeted with the floor tiles reading "Welcome aboard," a whimsical way to raise expectation on the freshness that is awaiting behind these doors.
They must be really proud of the imported oysters, as the first thing you see is a glass oyster cooler, presenting all the different oysters of the world. Displayed with a name, country of origin and a brief explanation of each oyster's taste, these guys really are taking their seafood seriously.
A map of the world printed on the wall, with the various locations they import their goods from, giving you a gist of how worldly their selections are.
The oysters
Their most recommended dish, the oyster platter with up to 12 different types of these aphrodisiac food is served on an ice platter with name tags placed next to each. The oysters really did vary in taste and size from place to place.
A sprinkle of lemon, a light drizzle of vinegar and onion, slurp your oyster into your mouth and taste the sea dancing on your tongue.
Other dishes
As a to share dish, we ordered the Alaskan king crab. Never did we anticipate to see a dish so creatively made and meticulously crafted. Each crab leg was cut open, fully showing the inner meat leaving no hard work for us to go thru while digging in. Serious thought put into designing and preparing for this menu.
Next up, mussels cooked to perfection and served in a bronze pan. As the lid opens, mussels in white wine and cream sauce is neatly dished in the inside. Another round of applause to the owners as they've given a lot of thought to the experience as the lid opens up acting as a plate for the shells of the mussels to be separately placed once eaten. What genius creative plating is this.
Our final meal, is not from the sea, but some escargots to bring some land creatures into the mix. Not a highlight of the meal, but a good extra side to have with your glass of white wine.
Digging into all this seafood was a feast of a lifetime. All the seven seas served on this table and not one oyster was left uneaten.
