The Sun Inn - A Tasteem Review
It’s been a while since I did a @tasteem review, and they have been piling up.
Two weeks ago we had scorching weather in the UK and headed to the South Lakes area for a one night stay.
This, of course, meant eating out and the chance for some restaurant reviews.
I was most impressed with the food while away this time, and intend to send the incoming ones I write about to the owners.
As well as increasing the awareness of Steemit and STEEM, they are always thankful especially if you give them a good review.
The Sun Inn is on one side of Kirkby Lonsdale and not in the busy area. It was a hot day, the town was bustling with tourists and we feared that everywhere may be packed inside.
Not so and we grabbed a table with ease. While not being empty, there was plenty of space and the hosts appeared friendly.
The menu I noticed only had one veggie option on the main course list, but as we are all carnivores that didn’t bother us.
Both myself and @dismayedworld ordered the Kirkby Lonsdale Beer Battered Fish & Chips at £11.95 while @bingbabe grabbed the Pan Fried Trout at £13.50.
Service was quick and the plates duly delivered in around 10 minutes.
I was thinking, ‘where are all the chips', initially but under that big whopping fish there were plenty.
@dismayedworld ordered the ‘fat chips' and although they don't bode well with me, finished the lot quite fast.
You might be aware that some of my reviews are not favourable toward the food and I do tend to be rather direct when this is the case.
I have to say that The Sun Inn’s, ‘Kirkby Lonsdale Beer Battered Fish & Chips’ are fantastic and approaching some of the best I have ever consumed.
@bingbabe gave me a similar option about the ‘Pan Fried Trout' but on this occasion, I was so focused on eating my dish that I didn't delve into her's for even a single bite.
While eating I started looking at the décor. It seems The Sun Inn has won some awards for culinary excellence. I am not surprised and can endorse this happily.
As per normal we don’t arse about when eating and the bill for three I found totally reasonable at £45 for three.
To sum this review up, I would highly recommend you visit ‘The Sun Inn’ if you are travelling through this part of north-west England.
You could and would do a whole lot worse than visiting this charming traditional inn and it’s gourmet offerings.

There are a few Sun Inn's in the UK, but I haven't seen one in a while. :)
That does seem pretty reasonable price-wise. I thought sure you were going to complain about the chips. They look a little weak compared to the typical chips that you enjoy. I wasn't expecting as big as the fat chips (we'd probably call those wedges), but at least a little bigger than the shoe string variety. I really don't mind either way as long as they are cooked properly.
No moans this time @bozz, this place was really spot on!
That food looks delicious - all of it! I love the difference between the skinny fries and the "fat chips" - and I would definitely have gone for the latter! Though the pan fried trout dish looks lovely with all those greens. Maybe I'd have that plus the fat chips!
It's a little closer for you too, only 150 miles or so :)
I don't think I'll be calling them up for a takeaway :D
But it could be a nice diversion on the way down to Huddersfield to visit the relatives.
That was a very detailed and pleasing review. I like when someone actually tells me a little bit about the atmosphere, how the food was served and actually give pictures!
I am totally jealous of the chips as most of the Fish and Chip places in the US serve French Fries (ie... think McDonald's, if you can) with their battered fish and so very unacceptable.
It is the one thing... Okay, maybe a few... I am a snob about. Good fish and chips. and resent them for calling them that... Call it fish and french fries, just so I won't order you.
Fair price, good company, and good food... sounds like a winner to me.

I tend to add some personal stuff to these, this is a more plain one. There's might be some waiter who farts while going past you, or some skinheads who walk past swearing..., you have to let everyone know ALL the details hehe...
Yes, Fish and Chips suck in the US, I lived there for 1.5 years in the 90's, but generally I like the food there.
See what I mean about the tips :D She is a good one, but in not impartial lol.

That was my first reaction as well, where are all the chips?
The problem with going into an empty pub in a not so busy area is that you think there's something wrong with the place or the food is awful. Sometimes I might be tempted to move on and go elsewhere. Good thing you didn't. Great find
Those prices are really reasonable, especially when the food is of that kind of quality. I do get hungry looking at those pics of the fish and chips :)
Yeah, you don't get many like this. I think my readers expect me to to moan about the food as I'm hard to please.. but this isn't always the case... eh? @enchantedspirit? ;)

Oh how I miss the UK whenever I'm not there, which is far more than I'd like :/ Even just seeing the simple interiors and 'feel' of an English village makes me long for it all. Oh well.
