Tasty food stall review - Simple food, but great value for money
I went to Tasty Food Stall for lunch today. The place is a small stall and the guy running the place makes local dishes, that can be easily made on a large Pan. The menu has a few local favourites - Tawa Pulao, Pav Bhaji, Masala Cheese Pav to name a few. I ordered Tawa Pulao for my lunch.
The guys started making the Pulao, by chopping onion, tomato and bell pepper on the pan itself. I asked him to not add any butter to my pulao, because the amount of butter he used to make Pav Bhaji was scary.
He mixed all the above and added some water, spices and squeezed half a lemon on top.
He then added rice on the side of the pan. The rice came from a pack, so guessing he got it with him.
The rice was then mixed with the veggies.
It was then served with some cold yoghurt.
I initially did not think the yoghurt was necessary but it went wonderfully well with the hot (both temperature and taste) rice. The portion initially looked small, given how tiny the plate was but it was quite a lot. I felt quite full after finishing it but did not feel like I had overeaten. Taste was also very good. The lemon, and tomato were the strongest flavours and rightfully so. It was a well balanced meal, for which I paid INR 50, or $0.70 cents.
The stall opens only for lunch and if you're looking for a place to have a quick lunch, and a menu that doesn't confuse you, then Tasty Food Stall is a great option. At the price it charges for the food, it is one of the best value for money places around Elphinstone flyover.
I'll rate the place 4 on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best
