Jimmies of Savin Rock is a local seafood restaurant serving up classic american fish dishes on the shoreline of West Haven, Connecticut. It has been around since 1925 and was one of my parents favorite spots when they were growing up and falling in love. Although Jimmies may have already seen it's hayday, it's still a place to get some fresh local seafood at a reasonable price.

Below is a look at the interior of Jimmies. It has a classic vibe to it. The windows give a view of the beach and boardwalk.

Bluepoint Oysters

I started off the meal by ordering a half dozen of the Bluepoint Oysters. Bluepoint Oysters are locally harvested in the waters of Long Island Sound. They are a favorite for many local residents on the coastline of Connecticut. Served with a cup of horseradish-infused cocktail sauce and lemon.

Cheesy Potato Skins

One of @sjagoe's favorite things to get at Jimmies is the Fried Potato Skins with Melted Cheese and Bacon. These are always a big hit. The cheese is a melted nacho-style cheese which they pour over the crispy fried potato skins. It's then topped with bacon bits and served with sour cream for dipping. Absolutely delicious.

Hot Buttered Lobster Roll

For the main event, I ordered a Hot Buttered Lobster Roll. This is one of Connecticut's greatest delicacies. Many places serve lobster rolls chilled and tossed with mayo and greens. Connecticut, on the other hand, is known for the hot buttered lobster rolls. I personally like lobster any way I can get it, but something about the buttery goodness makes it magic. The lobster roll was served with french fries and cole slaw. I enjoyed a Sea Hag IPA to wash it down. Overall it wasn't the greatest Lobster roll I've ever had, but it sure was good!

Jimmies of Savin Rock is a good place to get seafood on the shoreline of West Haven, Connecticut. It's not too fancy and not too pricy. The seafood is always fresh and they have lots of different options.
