Bogor Special Toge Goreng in Jakarta, Indonesia
Hello, foodies!
Indonesia has many special dish, one that really authentic is toge goreng or in english it would be stirred beansprouts. Usually you could find it in some street, or you could also find it in a foodcourt, like us. I'm talking about our favorite toge goreng, where we ate last sunday. Toge goreng is a traditional dish from Bogor, a city in West Java, Indonesia.
The food court where we ate was dapuraya which located on LG floor Pasaraya Grande, Blok M - South Jakarta.
In this foodcourt, all of the payment should be done by the top up card which they provided, but you don't need to worry, you could get the refund of your money which left on the card after you paid your food order.
This was the main cashier, where you could do top up or refund.
The Dining Area
The dining area here was cozy, neat and clean. With the wood furniture and some old photos, it reminds me of the old Jakarta or you could say 'batavia'. It is also large so you will always get your seats here. They also had many food stalls here.
The Food Stall
The toge goreng food stall was located near the entry gate and the cashier.
Mom was pretending to be the seller. But this one was the fake seller ;)
The real seller was preparing it, he stirred the ingredients with the water. It contained beansprout, oncom (fermented soybean), yellow noodle and also chinese leek. Then he left the residue of the water he used to stirred it, cut the rice cake and then served it in a plate. The last step was gave the paste on it (the paste also made from oncom) and also put sambal (spicy chilli sauce) on the spoon.
The Service
We didn't have to wait for a long time to get the toge goreng. Mang Kosim (Kosim was the seller's name, while Mang means brother. It was west javanese, cause toge goreng is a traditionally west javanese food). He was so nice, kind and skillful in preparing our order. Even he also wanted to deliver the toge goreng to our table, but we pretended and took it ourselves to our table.
The Outlook of the food
Here how the toge goreng looked like
The Taste of the food
As always it had really delicious and fresh taste. The oncom paste was so yummy. Overall the flavor waa savory, sweet, and also spicy. It was so great!
The Price
For a portion of this toge goreng you only needed to pay 20k IDR or around 1.4 USD. Sorry, I forget to take a photo of the bill.
I invite you all to try this toge goreng, vegetarians are also welcomed to try it too cause it is made only from vegetables.
