Hidden Beach with a Bavarian Beer Garden at the Ammersee (Germany)
This beer garden is an insider tip among the locals, because it is something hidden and no advertising is made for it. The beer garden is situated on a road that leads around the Ammersee, and only a small sign indicates that it goes there to the Froschgartl. By the way, the name means Frog Garden.
Some spend the whole day on the beach and on weekends it can get crowded. But most people come after work to swim in the Ammersee and enjoy the evening sunshine on the beach. Those who have got thirsty can get a drink or ice cream in the Froschgartl and also enjoy this on the beach. The water of the Ammersee usually has 20° to 22° degrees and is therefore a cool refreshment on hot days.
This place is ideal for meeting friends, because after swimming in the lake you can eat well together or toast with a beer. Especially recommendable are the oversized, tasty Hamburgers which cost 7$ to 9$ or a Bavarian Sausage Salad for 7$.
As is usual in many Bavarian beer gardens, the Froschgartl has no waiters, but you can get your beer yourself at the bar. The beer garden offers for approx. 120 persons a seat in the free nature with view on the Ammersee.
On summer evenings, one can sit there for a very long time, as it is sheltered from the wind and the sun slowly sets behind the lake.
