Flame & Bake: For the Best Shawarma in Abu Dhabi

After a tiresome week at work meeting targets and meeting deadlines, my colleague and I decided it was time to reward ourselves with some tasty treat.

A couple of blocks away from our office, there sits this infamous shawarma joint. A friend introduced me to this restaurant, but the other branch which is closed now.

Flame & Bake

Flame & Bake Restaurant or F&B as it is commonly called is a restaurant founded in Abu Dhabi. It is famous for it's Middle Eastern food (quite expected) but I particularly come back time and again for their Saj Shawarma.

While there are lots of other options to choose from, we are OK with the shawarma duo combo - 2 shawarma (choose either saj or babalochi), 1 french fries and a soft frink. We just ordered an extra drink and that's lunch taken care of.

The Sauce

Whatever you order, be it grilled chicken or the shawarma, make sure you ask your food attendant to give you all four (4) of their sauces - tahina, garlic, Mexican and spicy.

Give it a nice whip and viola! A super nice sauce to die for (my mouth is already watering just writing this).

Dip your fries. Spread on your shawarma.

There are lots of other items on the menu, like grills and rice.

The appetizers are also so tasty. I love the falafel and the kibbeh.

The Restaurant

The interior of the restaurant is both cozy and modern. It is average sized and could be full especially at lunch time. Come evening, you will find a big queue of cars waiting for their take aways.

Value for Money?

If you are looking to satiate your cravings for just a regular shawarma, you can go to other cafeterias that can serve you a shawarma for Dhs 6 (USD 1.68). F&B is more on the higher end where the shawarma is at Dhs 15 ($4.00). For me, it is worth it, especially when you will come with friends and share the combo with them.

In this branch, you can pay through Visa or Mastercard before midnight. After that (they are open until 1am) you will have to pay in cash.

How to Get There?

This particular branch of F&B is located just at the corner of Najda St. (Fatima Bint Mubarak St. and 9th Street) opposite of Vision Twin Towers near Nissan Showroom.
