FIRST SCORPION OF THE YEAR - 2018

in #nature6 years ago

This was unexpected, but pleasant!

Last night I was doing some rounds making sure that all of our animals were safe and I happened to catch a brief glimpse of this little one. I pulled out the UV flashlight for the vlog and photos, but I found it with a regular flashlight. Scorpions were one thing that I did not have to deal with back in Wisconsin, but they are definitely around here. Thankfully, no one has been stung by one yet in my family, so for now, we just admire them and release them elsewhere. Check out the video!

MY FIRST SCORPION OF 2018 VLOG!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Wow! Good find...:)...

Do you need to keep anti venom in case you get bit? Cheers mike

I probably could/should.... but not so far....

Such a little guy. Never forget first time I found a rogue one in my room. They are around here in Thailand also, maybe I should go poke around some rocks one of these days ;)

howdy @ papa-pepper! hey we've found 3 inside the house this week, Mrs. J is not happy! Last night Jack was sleeping on his mat beside my desk, I looked over just in time to see one go under the mat. Can't figure how they're getting in, can't ever go barefeet around here.

what did you say the name of that light was?
I think these things are creepy. lol.

Scorpion Master is the name of the company that makes the ones I like. Since Scorpions come out at night and luminescence, they make it really easy to find them.

When you can purchase "entry level" ones for about $10 USD, I think they are a worthwhile investment.

great investment indeed, thank you sir!

Papa, I haven’t see this type of scorpion in my life. Your research is great. I like you so much you are the best homesteader. Keep rolling sir

Oh man! What a compliment! Thanks!

Lucky you Papa Pepper! You seem to find everything. I still have yet to come across a scorpion in the wild. Or a rattlesnake for that matter. I've come across only one venomous snake in my entire life and that was a Cotton Mouth on the Buffalo River back in 2002. And it was just as easy to catch that snake as it was to catch any other water snake LOL.

Man, I could take you out sometime... I know a lot of good places now....

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

I'd love that! When is the next time you are passing through northwest Arkansas? I live about 30 to 45 minutes from Fayetteville.

Um, define "pleasant"? 8-)

LOL - Individual interpretations of such words may vary...

Well, it is a nice find, I'll give you that. I just prefer finding these farther from home 8-).

scorpions that come with arriving and there is no purpose, maybe it is very painful when exposed to him. Perfect
