Una visita a dos Museos de Sitges

La primera impresión cuando llegas a ese lugar privilegiado, es que encuentras un conjunto de edificios que parecen una casa grande en una calle muy estrecha. Me pareció imposible que dentro hubiera un museo y menos aún dos.

Están ubicados justo frente al Palacio Maricel y al lado de la emblemática iglesia que comparten santa Tecla y san Bartolomeo y que con el tiempo se ha convertido en el icono de Sitges.

Tan solo estar ahi de pie frente a la puerta ya vale la pena, porque resulta muy grato caminar entre calles empedradas y edificios antiguos todo en muy buen estado de conservación.

Accedí al museo por una pequeña puerta y nunca imaginé los grandes espacios que me encontraría allí dentro. Da la impresión de que el edificio se agiganta por el valor de su contenido.

Los dos museos se conectan internamente comunicando la Casa-Taller de Santiago Rusiñol con el Museo Maricel.

Primero entramos a Cau Ferrat. Fue fundada por el propio Santiago Rusiñol en 1893 y en 1933 dos años después de su muerte se convirtió en museo publico.

Allí se muestran las colecciones particulares del artista que incluye objetos de hierro forjado, como tiradores, llaves, aldabas etc.

También pueden observarse muestras de cristales, cerámicas, pinturas, esculturas, dibujos y muebles.

Entre los autores de las obras del coleccionista están:
El Greco, Picasso, Casas, Zuloaga, Utrillo entre otros. Además están exhibidas sus propias pinturas.

Luego de pasear por cada salón admirando las fascinantes colecciones, seguí las indicaciones me llevaron a conectar con el Museo Maricel.
Este museo tiene un concepto totalmente diferente al anterior, amplias salas con obras que van desde el siglo X hasta la primera mitad del siglo XX

Estas obras de excelente calidad pertenecen a la colección del Dr Jesús Perez-Rosales y se han incorporado donaciones de familiares de los artistas aquí expuestos así como colecciones adquiridas por la Villa de Sitges.

Después del recorrido una gran sorpresa me esperaba.
Un resplandor azul iluminaba el area de las esculturas. El mediterráneo pasaba a formar parte del museo sirviendo de marco a las altivas esculturas.

The Cau Ferrat Museum and the Maricel Museum

The first impression when you arrive at this privileged place is a group of buildings that look like a big house in a very narrow street. It seemed impossible to me that there was a museum inside, let alone two.

They are located right in front of the Maricel Palace and next to the emblematic church shared by Santa Tecla and San Bartolomeo, which has become the icon of Sitges over time.

Being there is already worthwhile because it is very pleasant to walk between cobbled streets and old buildings all very well preserved.

I entered the museum through a small door and never imagined the large spaces I would find there. It seems as if the building is growing because of the value of its contents.

The two museums are connected internally by connecting Santiago Rusiñol's Casa-Taller with the Maricel Museum.

First we enter Cau Ferrat. It was founded by Santiago Rusiñol himself in 1893 and in 1933 two years after his death it became a public museum.

There, the artist's private collections are shown, which include wrought iron objects, such as handles, keys, knockers, etc.
You can also see samples of glass, ceramics, paintings, sculptures, drawings and furniture.

Among the authors of the collector's works are
El Greco, Picasso, Casas, Zuloaga, Utrillo, among others. His own paintings are also on display.

After strolling around each room admiring the fascinating collections, I followed the directions that led me to connect with the Maricel Museum.

This museum has a totally different concept from the previous one, spacious rooms with works that go from the 10th century to the first half of the 20th century

These works of excellent quality belong to the collection of Dr Jesús Perez-Rosales and have been incorporated by donations from relatives of the artists exhibited here as well as collections acquired by the town of Sitges.

After the tour, a big surprise awaited me.
A blue glow illuminated the area of the sculptures. The Mediterranean Sea became part of the museum, serving as a frame for the proud sculptures.
