8 Days left
Not a long post this time. The "Allonian Seed" Kickstarter campaign is now down to the single digits with only 8 days left to raise funds. For those following me you know the general idea of the game, how it integrates with STEEM, how it encourages players to blog and to engage in a community beyond the game as a way to fuel their adventures with in. You also know of the educational aspects of the campaign as well, and how I want to teach others how to make use of their talents instead of being thoughtless consumers.
Features added:
- OpenSeed (my network api) is now slowly becoming more STEEMy and the game now authenticates to using STEEM.
- Users are able to pick their character and play as them with the level
- Various scripts that are used in multiple locations are slowly being concentrated into a single library for ease of use.
- Weapons / utilities are finding their way onto the bots.
Planned for the next update
- STEEM bot that gathers posts and creates rewards (basically "loot boxes"). These will start appearing on my posts first as I'm the only registered user in the game ATM.
- Better registration of players in OpenSeed.
- Bot movement tweaking based on bodies and heads.
The Future
I have accepted a job working for Mozilla part time to make ends meet here at the Flanagin household (or Beaver den). With luck this job will enable me to continue working on this and my other projects, but realistically we can assume that whatever time table I had set is now out the window. The kickstarter campaign will continue till the end of its run so if you are considering backing the project, now is the time. If you think this project, or any of my other projects have merit and are worth funding another way I would love to hear your suggestions.

This is so cool Ben! I really love the style of the robots.. they are adorable, and I know that sounds weird.. but they are.
Have you thought about opening a fundition campaign here or maybe using the utopian tag while fitting their requirements? Just some ideas of how to maybe get more support.

I stopped after one of their moderators, in discord, told another user that "Utopian isn't to fund your own project, but your contributions to other opensource projects. You should look to Fundition for that." So I stopped submitting things to it. This may have changed since then, but I try to play by the rules.

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. So I shared this everywhere I could think of and hoped it would be a good fit for Dan’s steemtank project. Hopefully he can help this get some attention, it deserves it and if anyone can do it.. he can 😉

I'm happy to see some progress on this since my last comment in your old posts. When it comes to funding, I'm sure you can get some additional backing if you made the project fit for utopian support. Their guidelines are found here. It does require the project to be open sourced. Sharing this info in case you might want to consider other sources of support. Good luck.

I see, that's a shame. Never thought a mod would say that or utopian works like that. I think it's best to have a working demo or something people can see for themselves what your project is like, maybe that would get some big names to back it up later on.
shrugs they weren't mean about it, and I love the Utopian team and all the good they have done for STEEM and Open Source and to be fair they have probably changed their stance on it since then. As far a a demo, its coming, I have an itch.io page for when it drops.
lol, I keep thinking I'm almost ready release something, but the realize how much more there is before I can.
