Introducing myselfsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hi everyone, I’m Adam.

@aussieninjawarrior.jpg

How did I get to SteemIt?

I’ve recently been researching cryptocurrencies, such an exciting time to be involved, and stumbled across SteemIt yesterday. I had seen the currency on the coin price websites but didn’t know what it was (like most of the coins really).
I’m really excited to actually use the block chain technology in a practical sense, and I’m really excited to invest in and get involved in the Steem community. I’ve always loved blogs but felt they had died off almost completely in the Facebook/Twitter age… while Reddit is great, it has always had a very cynical undertone and there is just so much there it’s hard to really find a voice. I really miss the days when people updated their blogs daily and so you can imagine just how pumped I was to find SteemIt… two of my passions combined!

I’d love to take this opportunity to introduce myself… I work in IT and my partner and I recently moved from Australia to the US so that I could train and compete on the TV show American Ninja Warrior. The transition has been way more difficult than I ever expected, but we’re starting to find our feet and get into the American groove.

What is American Ninja Warrior

American Ninja Warrior is a reality TV show where competitors tackle an extremely hard obstacle course. About 700 people are chosen to compete each year (although they get something like 77,000 applications) and of the 9 years it’s been on, only 2 athletes have finished the course. It’s a worldwide phenomenon, the show is now in 20 different countries and only 10 people have finished the course in all those countries. It is hard.

A few months after we left Australia, I heard word that the television show Australian Ninja Warrior was being created… so I flew back to compete. It was one of the most fun experiences of my life… I had an absolute blast and got addicted straight away.

Here is my run on Season 1 of Australian Ninja Warrior:

I train a lot for Ninja Warrior, and when I first started there was hardly any information on how to train online…. It wasn’t until I started flying around the US visiting different Ninja Gyms that I found out how generous people were with their advice, and I’ve learnt so much from both friends and strangers that I decided to write it all down in my blog Australian Ninja Warrior .

I might not win Ninja Warrior myself, but if I can help others learn and get better, then that’s absolutely a win in my books.

What else?

I’m also an avid photographer… I love images and movies so much. My partner has always been in bands and so I bought a camera to take photos of their gigs to help them out, and got right into it from there. I love landscape photography but could never get a handle on it, instead I taught myself studio photography. Working in IT can be a little bit dry and lonely at times, so having a creative outlet where I’m dealing with happy fun people who get so excited to get photos of themselves is extremely rewarding (even if I’ve spent way more on camera and studio gear that I could ever hope to make back).

What are you going to do with STEEM?##

I’m excited to write blogs on my photography, my training, my thoughts on cryptocurrencies, my diet, trying to live in the country and get off the grid, my ninja adventures, and hopefully helpful articles on all that and more. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride.

As I work in IT, the projects I work on are never guaranteed, I could be working solidly for months and months or I could be finished up tomorrow, I'd love to be able to generate some income blogging on topics I love...

I’m still very new to SteemIt but I look forward to interacting with you all and hopefully creating some meaningful online friendships. If you have any advice for an absolute newbie I’d be very excited to hear it.

I am a little worried that it is all a Ponzi scheme, but I love the concept so I'm really hoping it's not. Still not sure how it generates an income without advertising.

Thanks so much,
Adam.

You look real strong and I look forward to more posts from you !
Followed You!

Thanks Caiden, I really appreciate it. I don't know how you ended up all the way back here... but if you check my latest posts I go through my exact training.

Whats up welcome to steemit.

Haha, thanks dude!

Hi Adam. Have you touched base with @choogirl about joining #teamaustralia?
Definitely worthwhile.

Hey mate! Ah, no. I didn't know that was a thing. I'll look into it. Thanks heaps!

Oi Oi Oi :)
Do you know Jesse Turner? He's a freerunner, Ninja Warrior type. Based in the Gold Coast I think.

I do... we're in a Aussie Ninja facey group together... quite a few of his videos have gone viral.. which is literally no surprise considering the mad skills he pulls out. The dude is a demon... super inspiring. Yeah, he's definitely in the Gold Coast.

He was a toddler last I saw him. I knew his parents when they were back in Adelaide. Great to see him do well, though.
This is a fantastic place, mate. I believe it's the future of social media.
I wrote this primer for facebook friends who've shown an interest in Steemit.
You've been around a week or so, so it may not be relevant, but sing out if you need any help with anything.

I've actually read that post before, I think it was one of the first that came up when I was Googling around.

Actually, I do have a question... does the Steem Wallet update every day or once a week or once every 3 months? I pretty seem to have the same numbers in there as the day I started...

Post and comment rewards take a week. They can be up or downvoted in that time.
After that, the amount is locked in and paid into your wallet.

Thanks Matt. I thought it was a week... and I started 7 days ago.. but I actually think I might have looked at it a few hours too early. Thanks again, that really helps.

Thanks. I don't really understand a lot of what you've mentioned here, but I'm hoping I'll learn soon enough...

Welcome to Steemit! Enjoy the ride as much as you can!

Hi and welcome to steemit. I hope you like it here and good luck :)

Thanks so much Hanen. I'm still very much finding my way, but I love the concept!

Greetings from the Big Island, it looks like we have similar interests aside from the ninja warrior aspirations. I also just am getting into the crypto and am always kicking myself for not buying into it 6 or 7 years ago when I found out it existed.

I still need to do my intro post but like you I like the idea of this kind of community connecting us throughout the world. Posting about life and what makes us work is fun and a good way to learn and educate at the same time.

Anyhow, your post was the first one I read and I felt compelled to drop you a line. I always find people from down under to be great, my cousin lived in Bondi for about 5 or 6 years and I was fortunate enough to visit.

Good luck w/ the crypto. This time next year BTC might be at 100k. As you do IT, did you read about ethereum much? I never did until this week and it blew my mind...

Aloha,

Denver

Hi Denver!

This is exactly why I wanted to join SteemIt... to meet like-minded people. I love Ethereum, my current investing position is 33% BTC, 33% ETH, 15% LTC and then the rest in OMG and PAY. I'm really excited by all these technologies and can't wait to see what the future brings for them all.

I'm so glad you got to Bondi, it is so ridiculously beautiful there. I always have fun whenever I get there.

Good luck with this platform!
Adam.

I'm with you on btc and eth. I put a small amount into knc as well as that one has some real world use it seems and they have a really good team behind them. I jumped on the wax ico as well just to see what happens. I just need to make sure to not put money that I need to eat with and I'm good. Have fun! See you on the net. Aloha.

Denver

Hahaha, I just bought some more ETH today during the dip... and it's still a week until I get paid and it's gonna be tight.... if I've added up everything correctly, I should have $7 in my bank account when I get paid... if I haven't added up everything correctly I might be in trouble... but at least I got ETH at a good price.

Hell yeah man! I'm still going through the fun of trying to get some mining going. More for fun than anything as my power bill will make me lose money if I'm not careful.
