Another Chemical Weapons Attack in Syria Saturday, As US-Backed Terrorists Try to Frame the Syrian Government

A recent toxic gas shelling of civilians in Aleppo by militant forces has at least 46 people hospitalized, including 8 children. Reports from Syrian media suggest over a 100 people have been injured from the attacks.

Saturday evening's attacks consisted of targeted rocket fire on the neighborhoods of Al-Khalidiye and Al Zahraa, as well as Nile Street. The toxic gas appears to be chlorine as a doctor reported that patients "see very badly and have big difficulties breathing":

"Ambulance services continue to provide assistance to victims of poison gas use by terrorist groups, presumably chlorine."

Early Sunday reports put the number of civilians being treated by the gas poisoning at 73 which includes 4 children. Chemical protection troops has been sent by the Russian Defense Ministry to the Syrian areas affected by the attacks. Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov told media:

"From preliminary data, in particular the confirmed symptoms displayed by those affected, the munitions used in the shelling were filled with chlorine."

First used during WWI, chlorine can create lasting permanent health damage and even be fatal at high levels of exposure. The attack appears to have come from the Idlib de-escalation zone in an area "controlled by the former Al-Nusra front". Syrian forced fired back at militants in that northern area. A Syrian military source told Sputnik:

"The Syrian army responded to the shelling of militants, attacking the positions from which the shelling was carried out, militants suffered significant losses."

This attacks comes after the Syrian government has repeatedly warned that the anti-government rebels were plotting more chemical weapons attacks in order to try to once again frame the Syrian government. The Syrian Foreign Ministry asked the UN Security Council to condemn the "terrorist crimes" and take "deterrent and punitive measures against the states and regimes backing terrorism."

Despite Syrian and Russian military attempts to clear Idlib of terrorists, analyst Ali Rizk told RT that it remains a "safe haven", adding:

"If terrorists are left alone for more time I think they will only continue such attacks, which I think makes it more and more imperative to go ahead as soon as possible to eliminate these terrorists."

The Russian Defense Ministry had previously warned of two chlorine canisters getting into the hands of "a hardline Islamist group affiliated with the Islamic State" last month. They obtained the canisters by raiding a rival terrorist group's headquarters. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said these attacks needs to be condemned by the international community who continues to be silent on the shelling.

It's almost like the Western powers want it to happen so that they have more fuel to justify their own bombing of Syria in their efforts to take out Assad. A previous attack from April in Douma was quickly blamed on the Syrian government. It was also likely a state-sponsored staged attack that was used as a pretext to further allow the U.S., U.K. and France to launch missile attacks against Syria. They might do the same again after this recent staged attack on civilians Saturday that is again trying to blame the Syrian government.
