Museum Of The Ancient East or touching ancient civilizations. Istanbul

  Hi friends!

Today we will walk through the halls of Istanbul's Eastern Museum. It is located in the Archaeological Museum complex next to the famous Topkapi Palace and Gulhane Park. It is impossible to miss it, as it is laid down by different historical exhibits from all sides, starting from Gulhane Park. Sometimes it seems to me that the Museum is bursting at the seams from the presented artifacts.

For many years, the Turkish government and cultural figures wanted to make Istanbul's largest city Museum to reflect all the colors of history. A miracle happened! The project has already been launched and executed by 39%. The whole Museum will represent the capital of three empires - Istanbul. It will show the history of the city and the culture of the people who lived in this area, a length of 8,500 years. The Museum building will be located next to the Topkapi Palace.

Back to the Museum, which presents more than a million exhibits. The archaeological Museum of Istanbul consists of three buildings and an internal area. The first building is a Museum of the Ancient East, the second is a classic archaeological complex, the third is a Tiled Palace. There is also a children's Museum. History exhibits clearly and clearly show the history of Turkey.

Museum address: Alemdar Cad. Osman Hamdi Bey Yokuşu Sok. 34122, Gulhane, Fatih, Istanbul.

The ticket price is 20 Turkish liras. Mondays are the day off. You need to come early to have time to see everything. It takes us almost 5 hours. Who is closely associated with history and research, you need to go for the whole day.

Today we will look at the Museum of the Ancient East. It was built in 1883 by the famous Turkish architect Alexander Vallaury (1850-1921) in the style of Turkish classicism. The founder was the Turkish painter and archaeologist Osman Hamdi Bey. He was the first Director of the archaeological Museum of Istanbul. Previously, there was an art school in this building. Thanks to the decree of the Ottoman Empire in 1884 to ban the export of historical monuments, in the Museum we can see beautiful and rare exhibits of antiquity from Africa, Egypt, Afghanistan, the Balkan region, Mesopotamia, etc.

Modern arrangement of Istanbul has led to the fact that they find more interesting artifacts that answer a lot of questions about the history of the city. The gaps that were between 6,500 and 3,000 BC are gradually being filled with new information.

During the construction of the Marmaray metro was discovered the remains of 37 ships. Feodosia-it was the largest port of the Roman Empire. Now it is yenikapi district. The port operated for almost 700 years, then the water level dropped. Excavations were carried out at a depth of 28 meters below sea level. One of the restored ships is now presented in the courtyard of the archaeological Museum of Istanbul.

What can unite the Istanbul Museum of the Ancient East and the UN building in new York? Correct! The first ever Kadesh peace Treaty. Dates back to 1269 BC, the Treaty Written in Akkadian language. The texts of this agreement are located in the Museum of the Ancient East in Istanbul and in the lobby of the UN headquarters. The Treaty is the oldest of the known historical science contracts on the bilateral world.

The constant wars between the great Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II and the Hittite ruler Hattusilis III caused considerable losses on both sides. The ancient people decided to conclude an agreement on eternal peace, brotherhood and cooperation. The contract was supported by the dynastic marriage of Ramses II and one of the daughters of king Hattusilis III.

The history of the Ancient East is an important part of the development of ancient civilizations and societies on earth. The first cultural achievements belong to ancient civilizations, which pushed the world to further progress and development. It is always interesting to see and read what the ancient people lived, what had values.

The most important invention of antiquity is writing. Respect for traditions has led to the fact that we still accumulate knowledge and pass on to the next generations.

The Altar Of Assyria

Assyria is the cradle of the plastic arts of antiquity. The military genre of the image on the reliefs also belongs to the Assyrians.

Assyrian palaces were always decorated with reliefs. At the entrance there were winged guards in the form of lions, bulls with calm human heads. Kings were depicted with great magnificence and splendor.

This is a very small tour of the Museum of the Ancient East. It does not convey the feeling when you see everything with your own eyes. A wonderful collection of exhibits, which slightly opens the world of the past.
