There are places you want to go back to. One of such places for me is Pavlovsk. I like to come to this small town because every new visit gives unforgettable feelings and emotions. But today's trip was not accidental and planned in advance.
This area is the former residence of the Romanov Imperial house. Once upon a time in the surrounding villages loved to hunt Catherine II. On the Bank of a small river there were two hunting lodges for a temporary stop during hunting. Later, she gave these lands to her son, the future Emperor Paul. The architect CH. Cameron was commissioned to build the Palace. In 1786, this idea was brought to life and we can now see his creation, which has come to our days.
Centuries have passed and today this place is a Museum-reserve, which still honor the customs and traditions of the Imperial family. Our visit was timed to one of such events.
Wife of Emperor Paul, Maria Feodorovna, loved to decorate the Palace Park with beautiful flowers. This has grown into a historical and cultural tradition that continues to this day.
It is an annual festival that takes place in summer and lasts for two days. This year the theme of the festival: "Les belles vues-Des fleurs magiques" - Beautiful views-Magic flowers.
Our visit was threatened by heavy rain that lasted for several hours in our region. But at the last moment we decided not to cancel our trip.
Sundial. The eternal circle of time.
We assumed that the event would be slightly adjusted due to the weather. Because the extensive program included events not only in the Palace and pavilions of the Park. Most of them were planned outdoors.
But, seeing all the splendor that was created by the hands of florists and designers, we forgot about the bad weather and just enjoyed all that surrounded us. I even find it difficult to say what was more-flowers or umbrellas. A lot of people came to the festival. Everywhere you can hear the speech in different languages.
All flower arrangements and art objects are made of fresh flowers. Amazing beauty of shapes and colors. The rain subsided, then started again and it's too humid air only intensified the wonderful scents of these fragrant compositions.
We went from one bouquet to another. So many different flowers. Bright or gentle; large and smaller - each bouquet had its own meaning and gave food for thought and imagination.
All these flowers are either grown in Russia or brought from Taiwan and different countries of Europe.
Of course, all visitors had the same desire - to capture this beauty, which was so lovingly created by a team of more than 50 florists.
We were able to see several varieties of roses, lilies, dahlias, peonies, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, carnations. So much work and imagination in every bouquet!
The organizers of the festival have prepared a great cultural program. Of course, we were accompanied by music everywhere. These are the performances of the drummers ' show, the brass band and the soloists of the Imperial ballet. Already no one paid attention to the incessant downpour. Everyone was wet from the rain, but happy with such a festive atmosphere.
The territory of the Imperial residence is very huge. It is 600 hectares of infinite beauty created by the best architects and landscape designers of that era. We have the impression that the flower festival has penetrated into every corner of the Park. Flower installations, flower arrangements, fresh flowers - everywhere.
At some point, the sounds of the harp began to be heard from the depths of the Park. I heard soft melodic sounds. The melody resembled the babbling of a stream in the forest. It flowed and shimmered in all sorts of shades - then growing, then subsiding. It was so amazing to hear the combined creativity of man and nature.
But at that moment, something incredible happened. The rain stopped. The clouds began to dissipate and the sun came out. For a few seconds, all the people stood with their heads up. It was like a miracle or a sign. As if the Empress herself had decided to witness her presence at her own celebration.
Everything seemed to come to life and began to play with new colors. On the alleys began to appear coaches and horse-drawn carriages.
Finally, we were able to close the wet umbrellas and freely enjoy the walks.
The territory of the residence is really very large. Even though I have traveled here more than once, at best I could only see half of all the sights. Therefore, for the convenience and faster movement is better to use any transport here. This horse-drawn carriages and electric cars. So we can see even more beautiful places with amazing scenery.
Leaving here is always a little sad. But it's time to say goodbye. This festival is called"Imperial bouquet". If you ever decide to come to St. Petersburg, be sure to visit the former Imperial residence of the Romanov dynasty, now the state Museum-reserve "Pavlovsk"(World heritage site) . It is located 25 kilometers from St. Petersburg.
