Robbie Maddison, stahp
What he is doing is new, unique and interesting, I agree. But seriously, screw this guy. He goes to world class surf spots known for quality barrels, length of rides, and/or shape of the wave. However, he doesn't take advantage of it, at all. If you look at the video(he is surfing Cloudbreak), he isn't riding the steep, barreling section that is the reason people surf good waves such as this. He just rides the tiny bump, that you can find at literally any surf spot in the world. Why is he there? Why does he need the best surf spots? Sure it could have been a one off wave in the video, but if he is that far off and with such little maneuverability, he shouldn't be out there at all. As you can see he makes no effort to change his trajectory of running over the surfer. It's dangerous to ride around with a heavy and noisy motorcycle with little regard for safety at serious surf spots. The funny thing is, the size of the wave was small in this video, which are very safe conditions. He is literally struggling to avoid a near standstill target.
When waves get serious, people generally respect the danger and take precautions with proper etiquette because no one wants to get seriously injured or die. Robbie rides without stopping and maintains zero communication with all of the other surfers in the water so one is ever sure what exactly he will do next, except annoy every single person out there.
