An Argument For Buying $20.00 Streetwear

in #supreme7 years ago

You came here because you're aware of some specific rules that are followed by Americans (consciously or not.) You know that to most people, appearance is everything. One look at a woman with a short skirt, high heels, buxom chest and long hair, and the majority of people will believe she has no problem finding a date, and no problem getting what she wants. Whether you argue people make assumptions out of jealousy or out of a self projection of a person's innate confidence, one thing is certain. First impressions are all one needs to make a statement to most people. You came here because you understand this. You came here because you already accept how most people are. You came here because you want one thing: to win. Make people believe you have the answer, shroud yourself in unavailability and mystery, and you're well on your way to people offering their services and resources to you for free, just be associated with you. Kim Kardashian mastered it. 50 Cent and Robert Greene wrote about it.

Number one:
If you're in high school, or you're not, but you're in sales regardless, high school kids are a great target audience. The majority are aware of street wear brands such as Supreme, BAPE (a bathing ape,) and Palace, for example. Expensive brands including Louis Vuitton, Gucci or Versace all symbolize status 99% of the world does not have access to. Who says what celebrities are wearing are the real thing? The majority of people are unable to recognize "real" from "fake."

Number two:
"Real" vs "Fake" merch. Let's get one thing straight. At the end of the day, a Supreme t shirt purchased from a licensed store is made out of fabric (the garment) and ink (the design.) A Supreme t shirt purchased from an online clothing store selling Supreme t shirts at $17.99 is made out of both fabric and ink. The reality of how close these two items are is something the majority of people do not understand. Kanye West and Justin Bieber both for example, had their tour merchandise printed on Gildan T shirts, a popular brand that many t shirt business choose for it's quality and durability. Both celebrities sold their concert tour merchandise for $50 to well over $100. These are screen printed t-shirts. Online vendors who post these items for sale in large quantities reach such a large audience because they researched the brand, and offer the same service the warehouses producing shirts for Justin Bieber or Kanye West do for a fraction of the price, and may offer plus sizes of up to 6XL, which are unavailable on the licensed website or pop up shop.

Yes, you can spot a cheap "fake" YZY, when the vendor is using vinyl heat transfers. But I dare you to lay a shirt purchased from a Kanye West pop up shop side by side to a shirt produced by a company who values quality and precision, and tell me the difference.

The truth is, you can wear a different shirt every day of the week and not spend over $150 (5 shirts at $20.00 each is $100.00. Shipping might cost you $15.00.) When it comes to Saint Pablo Tour Merchandise, people will assume you've spent well over $50 per shirt. When it comes to Supreme, people often drop hundreds. But the reality is, no one is going to challenge you. We live in a society where truth is passed by the majority as litter or a burnt cigarette butt on the dirty paved roads.

Invest wisely. Show up. Let them believe what they want to. Truth comes to those who seek and ask "why?"
