Our Dream Team fund is COMPLETE!

in #support7 years ago

We have raised 1985 STEEM for the startup of a real-world makerspace!

A HUGE thank you is in order to the 40 people who have seen enough value in our project to invest in its early stages! Our funding goal was set at 2000 STEEM when the value was a little closer to $4, and we are currently waiting for a recovery before withdrawing what we have in the account.

I have decided to reserve the remaining 15 STEEM left to be raised for a grand prize in a contest we will be holding. (Details on that will be posted tomorrow.)

So aside from the winner of that contest, our Dream Team is complete, and investors will start receiving their dividends as of Saturday, April 14th!

Without further adieu, I introduce to you,

These 40 amazing Steemians deserve all the attention we can give them, and more!

@daddykirbs, @carrinm, @karinzdailygrind, @barbara-orenya, @bitshares101, @cgbartow, @roofcore, @ethandsmith, @fingersik, @yekrats, @fun2learn, @aussieninja, @creon, @asianetwork, @improv, @doughtaker, @fibrefox, @el-cr, @kunschj, @mdbrantingham, @mattclarke, @kedi, @o07, @crosheille, @stephen-somers, @holoz0r, @millennia, @calumam, @brandonp, @pacific-yt, @dysprosium, @scuzzy, @sultnpapper, @bafi, @trippz, @jimmybreeze, @tamala, @dreemsteem, @raptordashzero, & @rishi556,
You guys (and gals) are awesome!!

Here are some random facts about our investors:

  • Our very first investor was @daddykirbs
  • Our final investor was @rishi556
  • Our largest investor was @mattclarke, who not only bought a 1% stake for himself, but also contributed 150 STEEM to increase @holoz0r's stake as well! What a stand up guy!
  • Not ALL of the fund came in via Steemit. @fibrefox was only able to contribute through PayPal, so his investment was calculated at the time of deposit, which turned out to be right around 110 STEEM.

The list above includes everyone who has invested, their total investment, and the percentage of every Dream Team Payment they will receive.

A refresher on how payments will work:

Every Saturday, the total liquid author rewards for @thesteemhouse account for the previous week will be calculated. 10% of that amount gets divided among the Dream Team, according to the table above.

Example:

Say for instance, in a given week, @thesteemhouse earns 100 SBD and 20 STEEM in liquid author rewards, the Dream Team Payment would come to 10 SBD and 2 STEEM...

Those 5 Steemians who have the largest stake, (@fingersik, @mattclarke, @o07, @holoz0r, & @jimmybreeze) will all receive 1 SBD and .2 STEEM each for that week.

Those who put forth the minimum investment will receive significantly less (0.05 SBD & .01 STEEM).

Those numbers may look small, but one thing that should be considered is that this is a lifetime investment, meaning these payments will never stop unless @steemit falls!

So what will the funds be used for?

As stated above, when this fund was started, STEEM sat around $4, meaning this fund would have been worth around $8,000 USD. This should have been plenty enough to pay a deposit on a space, the first few months of rent, various start-up expenses like application fees, licenses, etc., and still give us some left over to start purchasing things like basic 3D printers, and second-hand computers.

With the recent dip in STEEM, and the normality of such dips, we have decided to take a little different approach to opening our physical space. Part of this fund has already been withdrawn at a low pricepoint to cover some of the early expenses, and the rest will remain as liquid until the value recovers a bit, and we can have a much stronger buying power.

Therefore, the 1,167 STEEM that remains in our wallet will be used to purchase much needed supplies, tools, machines, and more when we get our name on a physical space.

What's holding us back from getting started?

Unfortunately, funds. I know that sounds silly in a post about how our "startup fund is complete", but it's the truth. The number 1 reason 80% of startups fail within the first 18 months is not being able to keep up with expenses while they build their customer base. We intend to counter that by recruiting a silent partner to become a part owner of this endeavor.

We're searching for someone interested in putting forth the funds to cover a two year lease in a space that will cost around $1,500 per month. Yes, this means we're asking for another $36,000 USD before we have the full confidence to open without biting off more than we can chew...

Even at the current value of STEEM, this potential partner could buy 33% of the 'owner profits' from every aspect of the business, just like myself ( @thatsweeneyguy ) and @cryptomomma would, for around 20,000 STEEM. As the price of STEEM and SBD recover, this becomes even "cheaper" on the crypto end of things, so we have full faith that we will be able to find our angel investor(s) very soon.

BTW: The contest I mentioned above has a lot to do with our hunt for an Angel Whale, and will include writing a post about our project, and desire to find a partner. Again, much more detail about that will be published sometime in the next 24 hours or so.

If you support the idea of a real-world makerspace that centers around showing people how to turn their creativity into cash using the Steem Blockchain, consider upvoting and resteeming this post!

Even though our initial investment fund is complete, we could still use plenty of help! If you're feeling generous, you can donate to our project in any of these ways:
